Best way to sign off JSA?

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I'm unsure what to do:

I accepted a job offer on Friday afternoon and start tomorrow at 9am. I am also due to sign on at 9am tomorrow but obviously now won't be able to attend that. As today is a bank holiday I assume I can't contact DWP/Job Centre today and won't have time to do it in the morning either.

I don't want to just not turn up for my sign on as I expect I will be 'sanctioned' and will also miss out on whatever money I'm currently due?

So, can I sign off online? If not, what's the best (and quickest) way to sign off? Also, if I sign off 'correctly' will I get paid for last week?

Sorry if some of these are daft questions, I have only been on Job Seekers for the past four weeks and have never previosuly signed on or off.

Thanks.

Is an e-mail possible? Or is there a letter box so that you can drop in a note today?

Is it possible to telephone before 9am?

Just call them and let them know when you started your job. Many JC's don't have letter boxes any more for security reasons.

Thanks, I'll try that. I'll struggle to call them before 9am due to commuting so I think the link above will be my best bet. Cheers.

Alternatively, could I email my advisor today in the hope that they'll see if before 9am? My concern is that if I miss the appointment and they sanction me I'll miss whatever money I'm due and this will have an impact if I ever need to sign on again (which is possible as the job is temping).

There's no harm in sending an e-mail anyway? Do you have a "read/receipt" function on your e-mail service?

If you have an e-mail address for your advisor, then it will be fine to email them today. You will have evidence that the e-mail was sent even if they don't read it before 9am.

Congratulations on the new job. I know how soul destroying job hunting can be.

If you have the option to email then yes but don't just use that your choice, phone and as soon as you can.

Do you still have a booklet you use to note your daily tasks or is it all online ?

Thanks, I will definitely send an email. Thankfully I've only been claiming for a short period of time but you're right, it can be soul destroying. So glad it's over (for the foreseeable future at least).

It's all online. I will send an email tonight and try to ring them on my way into work in the morning.

I don't. Is it easy to turn this function on in Outlook?
