Rotten Wood Good Filler

Have some small pieces of rotten wood on outside window frames.
Has anybody advise on a good filler?

The Ronseal High Performance wood filler is pretty good - it's a two part filler that you mix up like epoxy. If you have large gaps to fill I would do it in two stages. Fill the bulk of the repair first then a top-up once it's set.

    Use wood hardener before filling.

Agreed. I was going to mention the Ronseal wood hardener but didn't want to sound like an ad for Ronseal :)
  • Many thanks I'll use both

I used both the Ronseal products already mentioned above, and also found them very good to work with. The filler I used is this one (apparently DIY stores other than Screwfix exist, though).

One thing I did find is that it really does harden rapidly once mixed, so have everything ready and don't make up too much in one go.
  • Thanks will bear in mind & will not make up too much

The wickes wood hardener and two-part filler is also very good; I used it extensively when repairing original bargeboards and soffits.
