  • Meal planning is SO hard, currently I cook for 3. Me, OH & daughter no.2.
Problems arise as D2 is a fussy eater (she's 22), but has never learned to eat properly as has been ill most of her life. Getting better but appetite is not good.
Doesn't like any mince at all, so no lovely cheap spag bols, lasagnes, chillis etc, not keen on meat at all, but doesn't like veg much either.
I'm hoping to find inspiration from all you resourceful people on here, apologies if posted in wrong place!

My menu for week beg 30/9

Sun (today) - Roast lamb, pots, butternut squash, carrots & cabbage
Mon - Pork steaks HM wedges & salad
Tues - Sausage & tom bake (receipe in Sunday Times - Jamie Oliver, looks nice)
Wed - fish (salmon/tuna steaks) with butter bean mash
    Thurs D2 cooks
    Fri - OH cooks
    Sat jacket pots/salad???

    Happy cooking everyone
  • Hi there folks,
Great reading all your meal idears, I am new to the board only having found it a couple of weeks ago.
We are at the moment trying to eat everything that is in the cupboards and in the freezer. Buying as little as possible as we are on holiday in 2 weeks and then come back to move house.
I have always stock piled tinned things and cleaning matterials which goes back to when husband worked for himself and income was irratic(all or nothing). I intend to move house and start afresh as we now have a regular income(husband retired and I get paid monthly)
I intend to join the meal planners and the grocery charllange mid way through November and then continue from there on.
If I could get our shopping bill down to £100 I would be delighted it is more than that a week now.

Wish me luck folks in the mean time I will keep reading the posts.
  • Here we go:

    Wed: salmon, rice, brocolli

    Thursday: ham & cheese flan

Friday: Mousakka with feta topping (from freezer)

Well I almost stuck to my plan last week so it's working for once! Not been shopping yet for this week but will do that either tomorrow or Tuesday, still got enough for a couple of days meals. So, the plan is:

Saturday - lunch: salad, tea: out
Sunday - lunch: avocado pasta, tea: fish curry
Monday - lunch: chicken, veg & noodles, tea: home late, will just grab something quick when I get in
Tuesday - lunch: salad, tea: lamb with spicy aubergines
Wednesday - lunch: lamb and salad pitta, tea: salmon with lentil & rice salad, beetroot
Thursday - lunch: leftover lentil & rice salad with added veg, tea: chicken casserole
Friday - lunch: leftover casserole, tea: greek lamb stew

All subject to change due to slightly unpredictable week and depending on supermarket actually having everything I want!

    Have a good week everyone.

Could you please let me have your recipe greek lamb stew sounds like just what i've been looking for :p

    thanks
