Should I try and 'haggle' if I saw other rentals for £20 cheaper in the same new buil

This new build has quite several flats still free.

Since I was already dealing with one agent and most of the flats had gone I wanted to just accept a property. I actually rang one of the other agents but they happened not to be open on a saturday so I didn't want to mess around and accepted a property with the agents I had already been dealing with.

The property manager for the building who showed me round even told me that the flat was £475 but I had another look and there are other agents listing for £495 and £500 so that made me feel a bit better at least that I wouldn't be the only one paying a worse price :).

I have paid my money now for the credit check so I am committed.

I wondered should I try and negotiate the rent to the prices I saw others listed? I don't want to seem like a trouble customer and end up losing the flat to someone else who would pay the extra £20 for the listed rent price.

Also since I need a garantaur I think I am on more shaky ground so I don't want to rock the boat. I am self employed currently fyi and can cover it; I just don't have 3 years worth of earnings that the credit check requires at that level.

    Bit horse, gate, bolted really.

Seems strange a property manager is showing you around...

£20 a month extra is not a fortune, given you've paid for the credit check and references now. You'd probably lose more than you'd gain now.

You are quite right, given your financial situation, its probably better to not rock the boat.

    I'm sorry.

Next time, when you have the accounts you'll be in a much firmer position.

£240 / years (20*12) is highly likely the same as the credit checks, next time be more careful.

Just go for the cheapest flat, you said there were plenty of empty flats in the block?
