  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Hester, I hope the other boaters turn out to help CHS with the repairs to your boat, titus for tat etc.......

We have much needed rain here, its very grey and overcast, its back to routine today, bathroom, bedroom and hall, the sitting room and kitchen can wait till Friday.

I had a brain storm last night, my precious combi microwave is on its way out. I had thought so before, but yesterday it did not cook the sponge pudding as it should, so I have very reluctantly put our DFD back a month and bought a new one from AO. I cook everything in it, I would not have bought a cooker if I could have found some way to put a hot plate in the kitchen, but the cooker gap is there and short of replacing a complete run of working surfaces and also buying a cupboard, it just could not be done. Apart from which the council would have ripped it out later. I bought the cheapest cooker I could find with a decent hob, the ovens are both pristine, never been used. It will be November before I have put back the removal money. I then need to start saving to decorate our bedroom, buy a new bed and put down a decent carpet. The furniture will have to go into storage for a couple of weeks and we will sleep on the day bed and the bed settee.

Stovies for supper tonight, I bought a tin of corned beef for sarnies whilst we were away, it needs using up.

Apart from the cleaning I need to get in the sewing room, I have to sort out the fabric I have and what I might have to buy for the stall at the Artisan Fair in November. I have an appointment at the pacemaker clinic in a couple of weeks and we can go on to the fabric guild from there, they have Christmas fabrics in already. I am not going to make too much stuff, I have been caught out by that before. If people want stuff they can order it.

Right off to start my day, cheers...............

Morning everyone, thanks for the thread Hester,

Oh TA what's the saying about not choosing your family :o
Hope you feel better soon Gers
Poor Dad Nelski hope he isn't too sore.
Glad you enjoyed your holiday nmlc

Another one here with rain and it looks like we have had a fair bit in the night, the garden certainly needs it but weeks of hardly anything and then along comes a BH, typical.
We have plans to go to a local fair but will see, it's been going for years and attracts a lot of people but has good craft stalls and interesting demonstrations etc so worth a visit. It also has a fun dog show run by a local sanctuary so we might take little Tilly and enter her for the waggiest tail competition :)

Had a lovely visit from DB and SIL yesterday afternoon, caught up over tea and biccies.
Weeks ago we decided on the wording to be added to Dad's gravestone for Mum but we have been 'negotiating' with the FD for the 'costs'estimated for cleaning etc, as we pointed out the stone is in very good condition and doesn't need hundreds spent on it to remove lichen! Anyways, all sorted now and the go ahead given so hopefully that will be sorted now, it's the last task to be completed and it will be good to know it's done.

Right, time for coffee and eggs, take care folks x

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's raining pouring this morning but we have no plans to go out so it doesn't matter to us really and the garden is looking better for having a good soak. Hubby is home today and has just made me a lovely breakfast of boiled eggs and some dippy soldiers :D. The girls are still asleep, DD14 had a rubbish night again so I am hoping she will catch up on some sleep today.

I am going to be playing with my instant pot again today and cooking a whole chicken in it with some lemon and limes. If it goes well I will be having chicken salad for lunch...if not, there is always weetabix :rotfl:. I also want to make a cake for the girls. I made a chocolate and cherry traybake yesterday and it's all gone bar the piece I have saved for the grandchildren as they were here when I was making it and were very disappointed to have to go home before it had finished cooking.

I am expecting a tesco delivery within the hour and then I will have the fridge stocked up again. I am going to ask my eldest DD if she would mind if I went to the same Slimming World meeting as her. I am sure she won't mind at all but I know she goes with her friends. I could do with a bit of support at the moment.

nmlc, your holiday sounded lovely, I am so pleased you had a great time x
Welcome back nelski, I hope your dad is ok after his fall. I haven't seen any of that programme but have heard rave reviews for it so I will try and find it on catch up.
I am sorry that you had a tough time at the party TravellingAbuela, families can be very tricky to navigate at times. Hooray for the nice supportive relatives and friends you do have x
Hope your throat soon feels better Gers, enjoy watching the boats :)

I am off now for a shower and get dressed. Hope you all enjoy your Bank Holiday, take care xx

    Morning all

I've been up made a cup of tea then hobbled painfully back to bed!

I say hobbled because yesterday afternoon I managed to trap my little toe under a door as I was closing it (I only had socks on) and I am pretty sure I have broken it :(

I ice packed it last night but it is very very painful and a nice shade of blue this morning. I have broken a toe before and it took months to heal and as I am on my feet all day and walk miles at work this isn't going to heal any quicker :(

So frustrating as I have been determined to start running regularly again as it is good for my mental health and I also desperately need to lose some of this weight I've piled on recently but now I can barely walk without pain

So I'm feeling rather sorry for myself today, what with everything else that is going wrong and all the worries that go with it..breaking my toe is the straw that broke the camels back  and I have given in and self-indulgently am feeling sorry for myself :o

Apologies for the miserable, doom laden post and I hope everyone has a better day then me :o

    take care all :Axx

Good morning everyone, thanks to HH for starting the thread.
Gers hope you feel better soon
Nelski - how horrible for your Dad, I hope he is ok and the hospital take steps to stop it happening again
Nmlc- sounds like a lovely holiday
Karcher - ouch toe injuries are so painful. If you can get any try some ibuprofen gel on it. I'm always bumping and banging myself and it's great stuff

I had a superb meal at my sister's last night she really excelled: roasted tomato soup with garlic croutons followed by slow roasted pork in a cider/apple/onion/mushroom sauce, fennel/potato/parmesan bake, glazed carrots, calvo nero, samphire and roast spuds with a chocolate ganache with biscotti and mandarins for pud. It was like being on Masterchef without the mishaps LOL :D. After dinner we played Cluedo . So all in all a great evening. Between that, various visitors and having my son back for a few days it's a bit of a dunt to be back on my own. Still I'm worn out and need to rest up for a few days so probably not a bad thing :).

The weather isn't great but if it perks up later I hope to do a bit of gentle tidying up in the garden later, it's so lovely to see the slabs all clean and weed free. If not I've loads of admin stuff to do, unfortunately I'm in the process of having to give up work and boy does that bring a shed load of paperwork that I'm tackling a bit at a time. Not something I thought I'd be having to do at my age but we never do know what lies in front of us....

Hugs to anyone that needs one x

    Hello all
I too have been missing for a few days as I felt quite low, both physically and mentally. So much so, that DH has booked us two more days holiday meaning that we now go on Thursday not Saturday.
The weather had been light rain here this morning but now the sun is poking it's head tentatively through the clouds.
Gers Yuk with the throat. I too have a thick/sore throat.
TA and Karcher - this misery thing must be in the water.
Hi :wave:to all those I haven't yet met.
Off now for lunch then going to sort out my spare bedroom because it's so full of caravan stuff and clothes ready to take, that it resembles a jumble sale in full swing !
    Hugs to all.

Despite thick throat and nasty nasals I've been in the garden planting out some small lavender plants. Two in containers at the front door and the rest at random places in the back.

I've ordered some more plants online (did a bit of a spree) and also stuff from Seasalt's offers. That's because the bloomin pollen from the smelly lilies got on my favourite, and very old, blue sweatshirt. I've done the brushing off but to no avail and now just washed it. Perhaps the sun will help, anyway, I've ordered a couple more in brighter colours as it may be a lost cause and end up as an indoors / gardening / slobbing top.

There's three loads of washing out there blowing in the wind. The first lot of bedding and towels was already dry before the second lot got hung out but I'm leaving them there to get the benefit of some sunshine. Towels and bedding are white so the sun will do them good.

Now I'll go out in the garden and sit for a while, the sun should cover me in Vit D. Won't go to the sea lock today as it's too windy to sit up there.

Karcher - hope your toe isn't broken. Try some gel and perhaps some arnica cream too.

Nelski - I only work four hours a week (mainly) so BHs seem to get lost in the rest of the week now. And I usually avoid BH events anyway.

TA - you got through it! Ignore the idiots although I know it more difficult to do than to write. It's odd how we (me too) manage to let one or two people undermine our happiness when we are surrounded by tons of others who are good for us. Maybe I should try mindfulness!

Now I'm tossing up between watching LoD on catchup or mowing the lawn. :rotfl: There will be no bets on the winner. The weather is meant to be beautiful here all week so the lawn can wait, I prefer getting semi-horizontal and watching the programme.

Hello everyone, I ve had quite a lazy day so far, I've knitted a teddy bear while watching line of duty on catch up, plus an episode of somethingelse. I've changed our bedlinen and bunged some washing in the machine but the weather is so temperamental that I'm doing only what will dry indoors. The cloud cover is breaking up now and the sun is trying its best but if my washing goes out, it will start raining again, typical bank holiday weather. At least you know where you are with a BH, it mostly rains.

TA that sounds utterly miserable for you. Gers, I am sending loving thoughts. Karcher, your poor toe! Love to everyone with woes, and I'd better get off here and sew up my bear.

Afternoon all. My miserable mood is lifting a bit I think. GERS I got a book on Mindfulness months ago and it's still here waiting to be opened!! And I was so full of good intentions when I bought it!!

Well I got out in the front garden this morning and dug/pulled up loads of weeds, some dead plants from last year (!) and generally cut back and tidied up. It looks much better and is now awaiting some bedding plants when the weather eventually decides to warm up. I emptied the pots and already have the geraniums (Aldi's best) to put in them when the time is right.

Broke for lunch, intending to then move into the back garden and start on that but decided I had worked hard enough for one day! Mr TA is busy in the garage trying to attach a hanging wooden bird feeding station to the top of an old bird table. My DB bought me the hanging feeder but in the winds we get up here it would be swinging merrily away all the time, throwing bird seed etc out as it went. It's quite sweet really, like a little house with feeders for nuts, seed, water and a side holder for fat squares. I hope Mr TA's limited DIY skills work and it doesn't look stupid or it will have to be hidden behind a tree out of sight!

Oooh snooker ready for the break off so have a nice afternoon folks xx
