HI All,
I am buying a new build flat from Taylor Wimpey and am using the solicitors recommended by TW. Initially i was sent all the costs thats are involved in the legal process by the solicitors and i have agreed to them. However, now i have got the paperwork in the post and can see that they have requested £175 for drafting up the contract for buyer.
The wording is this "In addition to the purchase price you must pay £175 plus VAT in respect of the seller's solicitors chargers for the preparation of the Contract, Lease and Supporting documents"
Before i push back and question them i want to know whether this is the standard process? I just dont understand why TW cant pay this themselves?

I seem to recall Barrat/David Wilson do the same. Seems rather cheeky but in the scheme of things it is nit a large expense.0

1) in most property transactions, the seller draws up the contract.
2) perhaps more worryingly, using the seller's 'recommended' solicitor is never wise. Find/choose your own entirely independant conveyancer.0
