We have a patlock and for such a simple device I think it is incredibly effective at protecting against lock attacks of any kind.
NB. CCTV sounds great but if someone wears a hood etc...our neighbours have CCTV which cover quite an area of our property anyway (they asked if we minded when they had it fitted) it also has microphones!0 -
I put a burglar alarm in straight away, had it done by a local pro. Bit expensive but I'm happy with it. I don't bother with the phone setup, but you can have it installed if you wish.
I have a gentle sense light at the front, I did have an LED floodlight installed in the garden, but it was horrible so I took it down. Whether sensor lights aid or hinder the burglar is debatable; everybody assumes the light was set off by a cat anyway, and it could actually aid the burglar to get into the house.
And have a chat with the neighbors, exchange numbers and agree to keep an eye on each others houses.0 -

Nah, in the long run, it would be cheaper and more convenient being burgled.0 -
The thing about dogs is that a burglar alarm that goes with you on holiday or out for the day isn't much use.0
