OS Daily Sunday 30 April

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone.

The wind huffed and puffed all night, it rattles round the house.

I slept well though my head cold is definitely gurgling away. There's a sensation like the end of my nasal passages are wide open.

As the weather was so bad yesterday I did go for a walk so I'm hoping it clears up today. I've got lamb shank, broccoli and mash for later.

Anyway, happy Sunday to all.

Morning All

Windy here last night too Gers but probably not as bad as where you are, hope your cold leaves soon. Overcast here but not raining yet. Yesterday was quite showery, took the washing in as some of the showers were quite heavy.

Welcome to Hollyharvey, I never have much to say but whitter on anyway!
How are you karcher?

Swimming this morning then the day is free. Someone gave me a scarf to re-hem so will get that done, also want to see if I can make a cape for friends DGS as he's mad on superheroes.

Have a good Sunday, take care. XX

Hi All! Usually read but don't post. Thought I'd be much better to de-lurk and join in, hope that's OK.

Been up since about half five, had breakfast and a cup of tea, bed is stripped and out on the line and there's a birthday cake in the oven for my MIL's 60th party this afternoon. Need to run round and give the house a clean before we go out, then after the festivities it's all about the countdown to Line of Duty at 9.

Morning lovelies

Thought I would stop the lurking and start posting again :) Been a bit knocked back on old style lately but I know I can always rely on nice people on here :)

Life has been upside down for me ...my dad had a major stroke at Easter and has been in hospital since. He is very ill and most visits find him asleep :( Having to visit in another town and deal with a very stressed mum is taking its toll it really is.

Day off visiting today so will be enjoying some housework and general mooching in the house. It seems the cleaning fairies have been missing my place out so there is lots to do. Also need to do a bit of cooking as mum is not eating properly and is losing weight at an alarming rate so need to find some stodgy stuff she will stomach.

Great to see Karcher is posting here ...i hope you are OK hun miss chatting with you :)
Lots of questions like is HH on her boat yet? Is Scampi behaving himself Tru?

Windy as heck here ...I wish i had some washing but its all done

Hope you all have a lovely bank holiday sunday whatever your plans

Morning everyone,

I've been up since 7.00am, I had hoped for a lie in but just couldn't get back to sleep. Too many things going around in my brain at the moment and I couldn't switch off.

It's nice and sunny out at the moment, but not as warm as it was yesterday. It turned out to be a nice day.

I'm on my second mug of tea now and starting to think about making some scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast. I have just put a lamb stew/casserole type concoction in the slow cooker for dinner tonight.

I haven't got much planned for today other than some housework. I'm not really in the mood for that but it has to be done. I have a large cupboard in my entrance porch and that really does need sorting out, if I can find the energy later I may make a start on that. I'm sure that I haven't used most of the stuff in there for a couple of years so it needs sorting to see what can go the charity shops.

Nelski sorry that things are difficult for you at the moment.

I hope everyone has a good Sunday.

Welcome proserpina :coffee:

Hope you managed to get some rest karcher x

Nels Sorry to hear about your dad x Don't forget to look after you x
Scampi is doing great, he's almost stopped digging :D

TravellingAbuela I hope you managed to avoid the drama queens x

Had a lovely relaxing day yesterday, though I was a bit bored by mid-afternoon so I did some sorting. Bits and pieces have mounted up over the past few weeks and they were annoying me. I've sorted, rearranged a bit and flung loads :D I haven't finished yet, the others had better tidy their things or it'll all end up in the bin.

I've put a load in the washing machine and will clean the kitchen in a mo, then go out for a walk. I'm going to attempt some crochet this afternoon, I haven't been able to do it for weeks and I'm itching to get back to it. I don't want to have to concentrate too hard so I'll make a white bag to hang in the hall, to store carrier bags. How exciting, lol

Nelski how about making some tasty mini-dinners for your mum, that she can just take out of the freezer? I guess that she isn't thinking about cooking while your dad is in hospital. Things like a medium-size Yorkshire pud with some beef casserole in, or cherry tomato or mushroom risotto, chicken curry with rice, lamb hotpot, pasta bake or lasagne? I used to cook for four even though it was only me & 2 boys, then there was a portion of whatever we'd had for my mum's freezer - she used to call them her meals on feet, as one of the boys would walk the 500yds to her house with them!

Morning everyone, thanks for the thread Gers, hope you feel better soon.

Mostly sunny here and relatively warm, yesterday was a lovely day and I spent most of it in the garden which is always pleasing. Planted up a lot of seeds, mostly salad, rocket etc as we eat a lot in the summer and would be good to have a ready supply. Next will be my tomato plants, love this time of year :)
DB and SIL should be popping in at some point for a cuppa and catch up so will whip up a batch of cookies to go with, there is a chicken to roast at some point but when depends on our visitors.
Other than that and the Archers omnibus have no plans at all, have a good day everybody and welcome to de-lurkers and returners :)

Take care folks x

Morning all
It's sunny on the cut this morning.
Hugs to karcher. TA, Csarina, Dumpling and anyone else in need.
Welcome Proserpina, welcome back Nelski.
It's a few more weeks until we are on the boat full time as our tenants aren't moving in until the end of May.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester
Chin up, Titus out.

Thank you Floss there's some great ideas there.....she lives about 12 miles away from me so it does require the car therefore it would actually be meals on wheels :D
