  • Paint work issue caused a cat C? Are you sure?

Whatever market value is for a not cat car, less about 30% will give you the value of yours.

Can we have a few more details?

    Petrol or Diesel?
    Engine size?
    Miles?
    Colour?
    3 Door or 5 Door?
    Service History?
  • The car is Corsa SE (CAT D-sorry for earlier mistake) 63 plate, 1.2 engine, 3 door, Black, 16,000 on the clock, full service history.

    Hope this helps

Also yes sorry its CAT D it was driven through a hedge therefore it was deeply scratched and paint had come off. luckily i have a friend who owns a bodywork shop who made it perfect again.

You can buy a non Cat D car for slightly under £6K

I'd have thought try £4995 and see what happens. If the phone doesnt ring within a few days, drop it back a few hundred.

I'm surprised that the insurers didn't pay for that. I s'pose the "proper fix" by the book would have involved new dealer-price panels, while the cash-job is filler and used mirrors/bumpers/lights etc.

Simply declare it properly - and make sure you have all details available, including pre-repair photos, for those who ask.

    £5k compared to non-vcar £6k seems reasonable.

Cat D would be circa 20% cheaper, so agree with the above. £4995 would be top end price if a comparable car not written off is £5800 and with lower mileage. Remember just because it's listed at that doesn't mean it'll achieve that either...

As per Motorguy if the phones not ringing with genuine prospects pretty soon drop a couple of hundred off.

Or pattern parts and mates rate labour, not £80 per hour "special insurance claim rate".
