Newbie - wrong name on one account on report

I have 5 late payments and defaults on my cr from Vodafone. This is two years old but as Vodafone closed the account after I settle it in full, it still appears at the top of my credit report. I had a new acc opened that I have never missed a payment on.
I contacted Vodafone and was told that they would remove my defaults. They said they could but wouldn't remove the late payments. I thought this would be fine but my rating is still bad. I called again asking to get my lates removed, I only wanted them to take two months off. Just so it wouldn't show at the top. I was told this would be auctioned. Check with Expedian and it's not been. They said the original remove black marks through again.
Called again and got a delight of a lady who refused point blank to help me.
The reason for it being so late was I disputes overseas charges. This went on for 5 months with the debt collection agency telling me if I disputed it I shouldn't pay as I wouldn't get the money back.

I feel like Vodafone is a lost cause. On checking my report further I have noticed that's Ye account isn't in my name 😁 Please tell me there is some loophole to get this account removed?

Thanks in advance
Xx

It wasn't until I realised it had destroyed my credit that I paid up.

Ugh, what does it have to do with the wrong name on the report?

They don't have to remove your late payments as they were correctly applied. The procedure to dispute a charge is first to pay it and then demand a refund, withholding money gets you a marker on credit file. Sorry.
  • I wasn't sure if it was the same thing as a driving fine with the wrong name. I have seen on social media people getting out of these due to miss spellings.

Sorry I should have added that during the back and forth with the credit company, when they told me if I disputed it to go back to Vodafone. I did go back and they refused payment and said only to go through the credit company.

I'm only 21. I didn't even have a clue what a credit rating was. No need to be sorry. Not your fault. I was just politely asking a question

No it won't. You can take mobile phones out over the web and over the phone, so it's easy to have details like name, DOB, etc mistyped, It doesn't void the agreement in any way. So you are clutching at straws :D
