PIP & Income support question.

I think he must be confused as to what benefits he was/is getting. I've always been told that Attendance Allowance was only for those over 65 years DLA/PIP before that. Also SDA was paid in addition to DLA as I got it for 20 plus years and I'm still getting it now on top of my DLA (now it's on top of PIP).
My carer gets IS on top of the carers but the IS is her claim and nothing to do with me. As has been said before a visit to CAB or a call to welfare rights is needed.
I think DLA used to be called Attendance Allowance.
ETA: not the most reliable of sources, but the merging of two benefits (Attendance Allowance and Mobility Allowance), plus the addition of lower rates for both happened in 1992, creating Disability Living Allowance:

It is possible that the man concerned used to receive Attandance Allowance in it's old format, pre-1992.0 -
Sorry for the delay, I don't get a lot of time due to work.
It seems that you were all correct, it's not Income support but Incapacity benefit he was getting.
She has had a letter through this week headed " Your claim for employment and support allowance"... she/he's never claimed it!
I've been round & have all the paperwork she has & I'm thinking it might be an automatic switch from IB to ESA, not sure though??
Does having PIP & ESA at the same time sound right?Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -

Yes.
I would strongly suggest the son and his carer visit their local CAB to get help to complete the ESA 50 form.
ESA is points-based. Here are the points:

Here is a guide to completing the ESA50 form:

Here is info on the assessment:

Where is your relative's son in the process to transition from IB to ESA?

It is not an automatic transition, your relative's son will need to satisfy the WCA that on the basis of the ESA criteria he is not fit for work.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.0 -
Yes, you can be in receipt of both at same time as they are for different things.
ESA is paid to those who are unable to work due to ill health.
PIP is not means tested (can get it even if you work full time) and is to help offset the extra costs of living with a disability.
Depending on other circumstances in his living situation he may even get a top up of his ESA due to his PIP award. Best thing to do would be to make an appointment with an advice service like CAB and ask for a benefits check just so make sure he's getting everything he's entitled to.0
