Basic Bank Accounts & Apple Pay

Hi there!
I have recently taken the plunge and faced up to my debts by starting the process of going into a debt management plan. They have advised me to open a new bank account as part of my debt it with my current bank (Lloyds).
I will struggle to get a standard account so will need to get a basic bank account. I was wondering if anyone could advise of a decent bank to go to? Ideally I would like to upgrade the account to a normal current account in the future so was wondering if there is a bank that takes into account your account conduct more than your credit score when looking at upgrading?
Also, does anyone know if there are any basic bank accounts that are compatible with Apple Pay?
Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions

In terms of basic bank accounts and Apple Pay Nationwide's FlexBasic account will work:

Do you know what they are like in terms of offering an upgrade based on account conduct?0

I think (from what I read) if you manage your account well in around six months time they may upgrade you to a better account. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0

Barclays Basic account also supports Apple Pay.0

You can't ask a bank to take account conduct into over your credit file.
Banks will take your credit file into account along with account conduct and the decision will be based on the 2.
None of us will know which banks take account conduct into account over the credit file.
No lenders, banks can see your credit score, only you can see it.0 -

It definitely doesn't. I had endless arguments with them very recently about it. Their full current account, the Barclays Bank Account does but that's the only difference between that and the basic if your credit rating is bad. I was not amused that I had to open a new account to get access to Apple Pay! (They don't upgrade but I've had my Basic Current Account for 16 years so they just opened me a new BBA and appeared not to credit check me)*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -

They'd do well to read their own website!
Accounts that aren’t eligible include: Business, Corporate and Basic Current Accounts and accounts with ATM-only cards. It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
Don't Apple / Android pay occasionally work offline if they have no data connection - primarily for use on public transport?
I'd imagine that's why they aren't desperate to offer it to Basic account holders. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I did think that initially too, however if your mobile has no internet connection surely the retailers terminal would still be able to connect to the banks servers to authorise the transaction?0 -

Would depend on the terminal - stations yes, buses probably not alwaysThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
