Morning all, not particularly nice here but it is not raining so that's a plus.

Hello and welcome Hollyharvey. My posts tend to be a bit dull and boring mostly.

I have had a couple of days where things have just gone wrong in a minor (biring) sort of way. On Thursday afternoon I thought I'd go outside to look at the clouds, as you do, and a passing pigeon pood on me. Yesterday I went to the dentist (bravely) for a crown preparation. Dentist made a temporary crown and said not to eat on that side for 2 hours. I left it for the day (I got very hungry but didn't feel much like making anything) and at dinnertime ate on the other side Lo and Behold, the flaming thing fell off when I cleaned my teeth before bed and now I have an aching stump, and the dentist surgery is closed for the bank holiday. It isn't quite bad enough for me to ring the emergency number. My sentence construction here is not of the best.

I have had another poor night, partly tooth, partly my OH taking up most of the bed and snoring, so eventually, at 3, I got bored and called it a day or a night, might be more appropriate.

Dumpling I saw yesterday's post, sad that you had such a difficult day. But you are losing weight and doing so many positive things while those nasty people are stuck with their horrible souls.

TA I'm thinking of you and of all those with troubles.

My OH has been shopping and while he was out, a new printer arrived. He hadn't told me, initially I had the unworthy thought that he might have hoped that it would arrive while I was at work but he got it more or less free, having saved up ama*on vouchers for it.

I might have to go back to bed but it does seem wasteful of the day. So perhaps I'll just carry on knitting teddy bears instead.

I hope everyone has a good day
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

From a chilly an d overcast cut.
Welcome Holly and hugs to TA, Dumpling, karcher, tru and any one else in need.
Captain Hot Stuff and dgd are sanding the rust spots off the roof of the boat ready to give it a coat of primer, paint and then fit solar panels.
I'm still on never ending inside cleaning duties, I keep telling myself it will be nice when it's finished.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Just after I posted this morning the clouds opened up and sent rain down for over two hours. Now the sun is out again.
    • Friends have gone - both :( and :j at the same time
    • Bought a new TV licence online
    • Bought a M&S jumper online - perfect colour this time
    • Filled the dishwasher
    • Sourced some great vegaware for a friend
    • Drank umpteen cups of tea and now waiting for the inevitable result
    • Selected some books to read during invigilation duties which start this week

Now I have a conundrum to resolve. My lovely friends bought me a very large and very beautiful display of huge pink lilies with pink roses and large pink other stuff (looks like waxy leaves). The smell is overpowering my tiny home and make me feel headachey and stuffed up. Now they are gone do I dispose of them or not? They are extremely beautiful and I'm not sure I could bear to throw them out just yet.

It's not a bad problem to have so I'll probably just let them be until they die naturally.

Gers personally I couldn't bring myself to throw out flowers that still look fresh but I do understand what you mean by the overpowering aroma causing headaches, so a difficult one!

Not much help, was I? :rotfl:

    Afternoon everyone.

I've worked for a few hours this morning and feel thoroughly wiped out now, I was tired before I went due to a very disturbed night and now I'm slumped on the sofa pondering going back to bed.

HH all your cleaning efforts will be worth it in the end I'm sure :D

Nothing much else to say for myself atm but just wanted to pop in and say 'hello' and wish you all a good weekend :) x

Sounds like you had a good time JackieO, is there still a market at Bolton?
    XX
This is my home town Camelot and I can tell you there certainly is.The fruit/fish/meat part is very good, but the stalls that used to be outside have moved to the other side and it had a bit of a revamp, and there is a central seating area where you can eat from various stalls/cafes.Theres a good wool shop too Jackie :D
Sadly we no longer have a Market Hall as such, its been modernised and houses big shops like H&M,Zara.

Better have a tidy round,it was all straight yesterday when I had a friend pop round, amazing the damage 2 teeny terrors can do ;)
    Enjoy the weekend everyone xx

Good afternoon everyone, hope it's okay to rejoin the thread after being MIA for a few weeks?

Not the best start to the day as when I got up my balance was kaput and I had raging tinnitus so the only thing for it was meds and back to bed until it settled. Thankfully it has a bit, but I suspect I'll be mainly horizontal today :(.
Just had the last of a pack of duck eggs poached I bought at the food market last weekend. I had them poached on buttered toast and thoroughly enjoyed them :).

My younger son will arrive in a bit for a couple of days not so much to see his mammy but to service his car, get his laundry turned round and see his mates LOL;) Still it's always lovely to see him and he is very good at helping with the things I struggle with so I'm not complaing.:D

Hugs to anyone that needs one x

Gers - Could you pass the flowers on to someone? Or, do you have a heavy vase you could display them in and put them outside in the garden where you can still see them?

Thanks for your answers about Bolton Market, my late Grandma used to live in Walkden and we would visit Bolton Market when we went to see her, but this was many, many years ago! Maybe one day I'll go back.

Inspired! I'll put them out in the daytime and bring them back in for the night.

    Thanks

Hi everyone, not posted for a while but still been reading. Had a nice pottering about sort of morning....only a little bit ironing, cleaned bathrooms, lots of washing dried outside. It's been dry all day though quite chilly. Had a lovely couple of hours with my great nephew this afternoon...he'll be 4 weeks on Monday. We went to Homebase as I wanted some sweet peas....they had loads of flowers reduced to clear and I got enough sweet peas for all my pots for only £3! Then I took him for a nice long walk...its been a long time since I pushed a pram!
I think I'll have to give up on the little veg plot I tried to make...the cats have dug my carrots, onions and courgettes out....though I do have healthy looking strawberry plants! I put strings across with CDs and tin foil on and skewers around the actual plants, but it hasn't deterred them at all....they just crawl on their bellies under the strings! I think I might leave it till the end of the summer and then just put stones down...its in a bit of the garden behind the shed so not really in view.

    Evening all
We swapped dgd for dgs and the work continued.
We had burgers for tea and rhubarb and custard for Pud.
Now we will light the stove and relax for the evening.
