Old Style Daily Saturday 29th April

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning everyone :hello:

I was up with the larks this morning but slept really well last night so I feel loads better. Honestly, I am just like a giant toddler when I don't get enough sleep :rotfl:. It's looking like it is going to be a lovely dry day today so hubby is going to be tackling the garden today. My eldest DD is coming to see us this morning with the grandchildren and I am really looking forward to seeing them.

Hubby is in charge of the kitchen for the weekend. I believe we are going to have liver and onions with mash and carrots today for dinner. DD14 is a little bit anaemic so we are building up her iron stores. The other girls will have sausages with their mash as they don't like liver.

Welcome to Holly  hope you enjoy being part of this community, they are all lovely x

I am going to have a nice relaxing day today, hope the same can be said for all of you. Take care xx
• Morning folks and thanks for the start DUMPLING. And a big welcome to HOLLY! TRU get well wishes for your DD. It's a bit dismal looking outside but no rain forecast and they say the sun will pop out later.

I have the dubious pleasure of the postponed Friday clean to do today but feel weary before the day starts. So another lick and a promise I suspect.

We are going to nephew's birthday bash tonight and I so don't want to go. Don't get me wrong, the nephew is lovely but the tiresome me-me-me SIL will be there and I plan on avoiding her as best I can. Both her and the younger SIL will be showering Mr TA with false concern (after they haven't checked on all his health problems since before Xmas) and I just CBA talking to either of them. We shall make a quick exit as soon as it's decent to do so.

No idea what we are eating today so a freezer rummage is called for. Although there is still a bowl of yesterday's corned beef hash in the fridge, so that will be Mr TA's lunch.

Have a good day folks and sorry for being a total misery. (HUGS) for all who want/need one and take care xx

Good morning everyone.

Bright sky and a promise of sunshine here. Last night I had the front door open still at 10pm and stood there watching the bats swooping around the house, they must be in the big barn.

My friends really enjoyed their boat trip, then we went to a local pub for a meal and natter. They are all packed up and ready to leave this morning as soon as they get up.

Today...I have to myself! :j so I have no idea. There's that book I want to get through, there's a bit of gardening I need to do, I could do some marking, a walk sounds good too. :rotfl:

Welcome to new posters. Most of the time I have nothing meaningful or interesting to say but that doesn't stop me.

Virtual hugs to those who want one, especially you TA, youre not a misery, times are tough for you!

Happy Saturday to all.

Morning All

Dry and fairly bright here, the bedding is on the line and another load is in. Got a white wash just about dry last night - didn't put it out until 5pm, it was lovely and sunny with a good breeze.

I was very pleased with myself yesterday, I woke up early so went for a swim before work, there's a new leisure centre near school so it worked out well, hoping to do it again, just need to get everything sorted the night before.

Had to get 2 new tyres for the car yesterday - £180!! Will go shopping this morning as the fridge is quite bare.

Sorry you were upset dumpling, those folk will always be ignorant.
You need to have some rest TA, the cleaning can wait.
Sounds like you had a good time JackieO, is there still a market at Bolton?

Off for a swim in a bit, just to keep up the momentum! Have a good weekend. Take care. XX

Good Morning everyone life is getting back to normal once more and no more holidays for me until August :)I had a great time but now its time to sort all overdue stuff out .I came home to a pile of post (none thank goodness with little windows in :):):)) but I have sorted most of it out I was very tired last night and fell asleep in the chair for 4 hours ,woke up and went to bed and slept for another 7 hours :):) but now I am raring to go again.I put the washing machine on last night and did one wash which is blowing well on the line at the moment and have a second dark wash doing at the moment .Tonight I am out at a charity quiz night that I promised to take my team to so the ironing will have to wait until tomorrow. Just done my accounts for the month and my diesel bill is rather high, but I have had two holidays this month where I was driving quite a bit ,did just under 900 miles last week !!.

I have a busy week ahead as well flitting here and there for various things. I have a U3A coffee morning on Tuesday. My hearing appointment at the hospital is on Tuesday late afternoon as well I will remember to take a book with me though as appointments at the Medway Maritime do tend to linger on a bit :) also a bottle of water as their prices in the cafeteria are a bit on the steep side.

Wednesday I am driving into London with DD as its the anniversary of my brothers death and we shall go to lay some flowers at the cemetery His children are all scattered around to country and I'm the nearest.

Thursday I am visiting two different housebound friends who live in opposite directions I found some good books when on holiday in a CS which I think they will enjoy, then Friday afternoon its back to history club once more. In between I shall be looking after my DGS after school as well.

Last week was lovely as I got a nice rest ,apart from flitting round Lancashire :) and seeing my nephew and another friend in Marple .

I'm sure I shall slow down one day ,but not just yet though :) my eldest DD is always saying I do too much at my age ,but time enough to slow down when I get really old :):):)

Life is such a buzz, and there just aren't enough hours in the day at times :)
Saying that I'd better get a wriggle on and get the 'dark' stuff on the washing line Its a beautiful day here in Kent

have a great day everyone whatever you are doing try to enjoy it :):):)
JackieO xxx

P.S. T/A you are never a misery honey ,you have a great deal on your plate and if unloading some on here helps then unload away ,that's what we are here for

Welcome to Holly hope you enjoy the morning natter :)
camelot I don't know about bolton, but last saturday we went to Bury and it was really good I bought lots of wool for my charity blankets.
Glossop has an indoor market hall which although smaller than Bury was just as nice and I brought home some of the ham and sausages that were on sale .I got a smashing red/pink quilted jacket in a CS in Glossop and a bag that matched it in another one there The jacket is in my washing machine at the moment and I am really pleased with it as its ideal for when I am driving as its not to thick plus it was a bargain at a fiver :):):)

Morning everyone and thank you for the start Dumpling, glad you are feeling brighter today.

Beautiful sunny morning here in EA, haven't stepped outside the door yet but OH says it feels much warmer than of late. Not long been up after having a lie-in, can't usually manage to get back to sleep but managed today and feel much refreshed.
Not too much planned for today, I need to get out to a post office this morning to return a parcel, I don't usually order shoes online but saw some leather loafers that were a real bargain, reading some reviews some said they come up big so ordered a half size down and would you believe they were too tight :) Am exchanging for my usual size, they are v nice and good value for leather shoes.
Other than that think it will be some gardening and general pottering, nothing exciting really :)

Welcome to Holly :T
You are certainly not a misery TA, so much in your plate at the moment m'dear but we are all here to support you, if only by listening x

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

dumpling Stupid people's opinions are irrelevant. You are fab :D

Mum and dad are off to St Ives today, staying in a lovely cottage near the beach that we first stayed in three years ago and I'm madly jealous! My brother's money is a bit tight this year and he wasn't sure if they could afford to go away so a couple of weeks ago mum and dad asked if he wanted to join them, he said yes. This makes it worse :D I can picture the five of them sat round the big kitchen table, eating local goodies *sigh* It's dad's birthday while they're away, mum has hidden a little present from us in the car, hopefully he won't find it! It's something of nothing really, it's just so he has something to open on the day. I didn't really know what to buy him, they can afford to buy whatever they want when they want it. There's a fish restaurant he loves down there, so I've given mum the cash for them to go out for a posh lunch.

The slate has been glued into place in the fireplace. We bought rapid set stuff but the floor was uneven, we've had to put it down thickly in places so it took longer to dry. Then the garage rang and said the van was ready, master tru spent a few moments agonising over what to do next – fireplace? van? fireplace? etc lol. I told him to go get the van :D Haven't seen much of him since! He even offered to give miss tru a lift to work today :D Don't think I'm going to see much of him for the next few days, he's thrilled to be mobile again.

Today I will be mostly on my own and I'm looking forward to it. I had some work sorted for this morning but I'm going to put it away til next week, there's nothing urgent and I need a me-day.

• Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Laundry blowing on the line, its a bit grey over Bill's mother's, no rain forecast but who is to say it will not rain.

OH bowling, so bacon sarnies for lunch and an afternoon either with a book or in the sewing room, depends how I feel, could also do with flicking the duster round the sitting room and shoving the dyson over the carpet.

In Lidl yesterday they had moved everything around, managed to come home without a chicken, never mind, OH will have to have gammon and parsley sauce next Sunday......The Lidl at Molden was huge, much bigger than ours and lots of different products too. I was surprised at the size of the town. I thought it was a small town....wrong.......it has good rail links to London, so is a commuter town.

Good morning everyone. Thank you for the warm welcome, I look forward to becoming a regular part of the "Daily" thread.
I got up early and switched the already loaded WM on and that is blowing on the line now. It's a lovely sunny day here in North Essex. I am going to make the most of the drying weather and have stripped the bed and got that in the WM as well.
As I live within a 10 minute walk of the town centre I got up early and got to the supermarket and M&S about 8.30am before it got busy and got the few bits that I needed and some fruit and veg off the market. That should last until after the bank holiday when the town will be a bit quieter again.
My DB and SIL are coming over later today and I need to make some scones, I think I may make a lemon drizzle cake as well because my brother always asks if there is any when he visits it's his favourite cake.
I hope that you all have a good day whatever you are doing, and TA I hope that this evening is not too bad and that you can get away fairly early.

It's our last morning in Yorkshire, we're going over to spend a couple of nights with DH's sister on the Wirral.

We're slowly packing up and cleaning, the bedding is washed and dried and the towels are in the machine now. We hope to be off by lunchtime as DH wants to go and check out a shed place in Burnley and we have to pick up my newly serviced sewing machine from Blackburn.

Camelot, I'm sure there is still a market in Bolton. My dad used to make market stalls for all the local marketeers and travelled to Bolton, Chorley, Wigan etc. It was a real word of mouth business because he kept his prices low so people used to contact him from all over Lancashire. I wish we had markets like that in Bedfordshire but there aren't any "proper" markets left near us.

I'd better get on or we'll never be off.

BTW, welcome Holly.
