Getting to Heathrow

Trying to find cheapest way to get to Heathrow from Sussex for myself and 18 year old daughter. She has a young persons railcard and I can get a railcard if necc. We can easily get to Gatwick airport but Nat express prices for coach are £70+ return each. I could drive BUT arriving back early am after overnight flight so is it a good idea to drive?? Just got a quote for trains and they suggest cheapest!! is £70 single each.
Any advice appreciated.
MAny thanks

What dates are you travelling? And where from? This is my quest, to follow that star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far.0

The £70 (£71 acksherlly) from Gatwick to Heathrow return is for both of you , not each. Fare halved instantaneously.
Cheaper still - Gatwick to Victoria £8.90 each way on a Southern train, Victoria to Heathrow £4 each way on the tube. Again per person.
I really can't see how you got £70 each single to Heathrow by train. You really must have put something wrong in your query. Using the overpriced Gatwick and Heathrow Expresses with negligible time saving is still going to be less than half that. Or is your price for two again?0 -
sorry dzug you are quite right - a blonde moment on my part! The trains though are the right price - a return ( but I think it was using mainline from Paddington rather than tube) was £160 return each. That was when I knew one of you guys here would be able to point me in the right direction. Thanks for the info re train and then tube.
john charles travelling on 19th October returning 25th travelling from heathfield but can get to variuos ststaions - whichever is most direct
thanks for advice

Glad to have helped - but the fare via Paddington still doesn't make sense unless it's first class. Even then it's not each, but for both of you.
Both National Express and the rail sites quote the total price when 2 or more people are travelling - not the each price. Can be alarming if you are not expecting it.0
