Travel Insurance help please

I have free annual travel insurance through work. In order for me to be covered for my 2 medical conditions, they have quoted me £80 for the year.

I only need one condition covered (Asthma) but they said I either cover both, or none.

£80 is a bit steep - I only really need it to be covered for if I get ill whilst I'm away, and end up in hospital (never happened before whilst abroad, but you never know).

If I leave my work travel insurance without cover for the conditions, am I able to take out another policy (if I can find a cheaper one) that would cover the condition?

I don't really know anything about travel insurance, my experience lies within other insurance products!

EDIT: I ask because I have been quoted £35 by quite a few other insurers with the conditions declared.

Have you compare the T&C between those quote you £35 and your work one?

if you tell your work travel insurance that someone quote you £35 to cover the condition, what will they say?

Will the £35 cover your condition or would it be outside coverage?

The £35.00 was the cheapest one, and is a travel policy that includes the 2 conditions.

One a little more expensive, at £50 has the same t&c's, but also covers the 2 conditions. Only s £30 saving - is it worth getting a second policy or just paying the £80 on my work one (which seems to be quite a good policy)?

If you think there is a wide variety in quality of cover and claims with Home Insurers then this is nothing compared to Travel Insurance.

It is possibly the main field of Insurance where cheapest is very very rarely the best

To answer your question you can buy the cover you need elsewhere and still keep your original policy going.
