I've always been a Sainsburys person. I often go to the others like tesco, asda & morrisons if I'm about at the weekend and not near a sainsburys.

I've just spent a good hour on that mysupermarket.com website and was going between Sainsburys and Asda to see how much I can save and if I choose the lower branded stuff.
I'm still better off with them as I thought Asda would be cheaper. I didn't even bother going to Tesco as it also shows you a quick glance what it would be at the other supermarkets and it was way more pricey!
I've managed to save about £15 a month on my shop just by selecting the Sainsbury's brand and some of the value stuff and the price swap system built into the website(the calorie swap was interesting but pricey!)

  • I usually pass Sainsbury's to do a fortnightly shop at Tesco!! But I go to SB for 'top ups' and things I won't/ can't get at Tesco.

ie: Tesco carrots - always wet - don't last 5mins
    Tesco potatoes - terrible quality!
Small kiwis - always cheaper at SB- just right size for one on my cereal
Chicken - never buy at Tesco

Tesco don't sell: Classic (I think?) tinned cat food
    frozen sliced mushrooms
    frozen sliced peppers

I HATE going to Asda - full of horrible people, offers only on carp I never buy, quality is terrible.
I love Lidl - always makes me think I'm abroad on holiday, as we shop there when camping abroad!
If I was very rich I'd shop in Waitrose and M&S - I'm not so I shop around, and often get really good SO's and reduced stuff from our local Somerfield or 'Scummerfield' as my son calls it!!
  • I just did a bargain shop for Stella on Home delivery at Sainsburys.

Ordered 10 20x440ml cans of Stella for £9.99 instaed of £15.99

It was a real bargain and was not expecting to get them as in The recent TESCO wine fiasco...they called a wine festival.

Anyway I ordered 9.45pm Sat evening and the order arrived 10am Monday morning.....I was astounded.

SAINSBURYS is FAR SUPERIOR To tesco!

BTW tesco are seling the same for £14.99 with a so called saving of 99p....Huh! every little SUCKS.....lol!

    Sainsburys EVERY time. :j

But I do get my chicken, meat etc at farm shops or local butchers. You can't beat the taste. :)

You feel the same about asda as well, when we had the floods here i decided to get some water that was being given out but there was a queue and the people were obnoxious and rude unlike shoppers at sainsburys where theyre polite and not obnoxious

We have the full works of supermarkets where i live. My hometown (a village by name) has a Sainsbury's, M&S Simply Food & a Co-op superstore. We have a Tesco 8 miles away, Morrisons & Asda 14 miles away, and Aldi/Lidl like 10 miles.

We do shop at Sainsburys, not because its the nearest, because for us it does work out cheaper than tesco. If Morrisons or Asda was nearer, we'd shop there.

Sainsbury's food IS great quality, but then i don't have any complaints about the others!

Always used to be a Mr T's gal, but since we have had a sainsbury local open near us, then it has whet my appetite - and the bargains are ridiculously cheap. Go to Mr T's for the diesel though, for the points! Meat comes from the butchers.
