2 Bed Flat projected cost for 1 Years use £2400!

Hi,

I live in a 2 bed flat with one other person.

We don't have gas so everything is run on electricity.

The radiators are never turned on the water heater is turned off during the day and at night.

I've been looking at UK households average usage and our current projection is going to higher than a 4 bed house bills (gas & electricity)!!

I've spoken to the electricity company and keep being buffered away with your meter readings show the current trend is correct blah blah blah...

I cant help but think it must be physically impossible for us to be using this much electricity.

Currently have a debt of £750 with them (i have been paying a direct debit of £50 from the start as i thought this would be sufficient) and by the time my tenancy finishes my total spending on electricity is just shy of £2400..

Where do i stand? What can i do!!

I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thank you.

I presume you are using actual meter readings, not estimated ones?

are you on a standard tariff or a fixed tariff?? Are you on the best tariff your household could get? Check the energy club for example?

    Welcome to the forum.

Did you check the meter readings when you moved in, and personally notify the electricity company of those readings? i.e. not rely on the letting agent to notify the company. Many people have found themselves paying for the previous occupant's electricity.

If the above was the case, the company's computer will forecast very high usage.

All the best cannabis 'grow' kits are supplied with the apparatus and instructions to bypass the meter.

Can you post your readings please ?

The actual ones you provided when you moved in and the actual ones you have been providing regularly.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
