Help with student loan application

Options
Hi I hope someone could help me with student loan application. My youngest is off to uni in September and needs student finance but I am a bit of a loss how to go about this. I have looked via Martins main pages and via internet but still confused. Firstly our household income has dropped in the past year do we have to fill in forms 2014-15, 2015-16 or/and 2016-17. We also get a small income from a rented property do I put down all income received or just put down taxable income from self assessment form. Does letting fees and maintenance fees, work we have done etc taken into account/deducted. I also pay pension contribution from my wages I presume from previous post that I put down gross earnings and then put yearly amount of pension paid somewhere else on the form.
Sorry for all the questions, its a bit of a minefield.
Thanks for any help.

I haven't looked at the application forms in a while but usually they are pretty self explanatory.

Has your DS/DD actually started their application yet? If not, get them to start it. Once started and you have to fill in the information I would perhaps try it and see where you get up to.
  • I'm pretty sure that only the taxable 'profit' from your rental income will need to be declared on the form.
If your household income has dropped since the tax year the funding body are asking for details of, you can request a reassessment based on the current tax year. It used to be that the drop in household income had to be at least 15% and you still have to do the initial assessment based on the tax year the funding body are asking for. Both parents needed to declare estimated income in the current year, too. Once the initial financial assessment is done, you'll need to request the current year income assessment.
Applications for student support are made via the .gov website's student finance section.
Hope that makes sense and that it helps.
