Do high street travel agents do..

Ferry crossings?
Or have they lost that market to the internet?

Business is business, so they will still book them for you, but why not use the internet yourself?

Most travel agents have diversified into selling any leisure activity. Theme park tickets etc. I'm not comfortable with using Travel Agents as they don't always give the best prices and put the customer first. They always try and sell their preferred hotels and packages over what the customer specifically wants. As withabix has said, why not use the internet to compare prices of crossings?

A year ago after only using the internet I decided to give a travel agent another go. They had an in-store "specialist flight centre". I asked for 2 business class returns to Vancouver on a rough date and the guy simply opened the standard BA flight book and quoted me the flat fare of £2,200 per ticket! I found 2 business tickets online for £600 each!

Far better to book online some travel agents will add a service charge for booking it as their profit margin on it is low. Book through a cashback site like Quidco instead. and take that commision off your bill.
