right to buy, should i?

Hello. My wife and I have always lived in a council house, never got far in work untill recently. We suddenly find ourselves in a situation where we went from a 15 grand income 2 years ago to a 60 grand income now. My wife wants to move asap from chav land. I think we should buy this 3 bed semi save another deposit then bit another house and rent this one out. Bear in mind I can buy this house for 24 grand their would be no mortgage id pay cash. Then we can save 30 grand this year plus equity in this house and buy something else. Much better than if we just go for it now. Should I do it. Can I legally do it and how can I persuade my wife not to throw away 38 grand equity if we just move on

Sounds like your wife won't want to live in it for five years.

You can't rent it out for five years.

Five years in chavland would trump any monetary gain for me. Get out. House is only worth tuppence full price it seems due to the area

I was going help but your second post made me realise not to bother.
  • They sell for 60 grand on this street. After my discount its 23,450 for a 3 bed semi witha small garden I even if I let it sit empty for 5 years I still feel it will be worth an extra year living here to save another deposit
  • I have been thinking of making an offer on an ex-council property, but this thread has completely put me off the idea

I have to burst the ops bubble, but chavs don't just live in social housing. There are quite a few living in private rented places in the up market village i live in.

The worst sort of people to live with are the toffs and yuppies who all seam to think they are better than everyone else.

I would love to see the condition of an ex council house on a council estate that had been left empty for 5 years.
