Pregnant and can't travel

Hello

I've recently found out I'm pregnant and will be unable to travel on my holiday in September 2017 as I will be 36/37 weeks and the airline won't let me fly.

We have 4 rooms in our booking and I would like to cancel my room which I would share with my partner and 2 sons but teletext have told me that as it is a package holiday, if 1 person cancels then nobody on the booking will be able to travel but everyone still has to pay for 100% of their holiday.

Is this correct? Surely they should still be able to travel even if airline says I can't?

We hadn't arranged any travel insurance yet. They said I would be able get some of my money back, just for me as I have a letter from GP confirming pregnancy, but everyone else would be unable to go but would still be required to pay 100% of the costs.

    Congratulations on your good news.:)

Teletext have a reputation for being difficult to communicate with, to put it mildly.
Make sure you get everything in writing, in fact if possible hand it over
To your partner to deal with teletext as it could be rather stressful.
Are you saying the rest of the family would be happy to go even if you couldn't ? :)
Hopefully someone else will be along soon to give you some advice.
  • It depends on the terms you agreed when booking, along with what was booked and who with. If your Atol certificate says package holiday, which I doubt, then you need to read Teletext terms again. If it says flight plus then its quite likely the flight element is 100% payable. Accommodation would depend on the terms of the accommodation booked.

I wouldn't cancel and make everyone else lose their holiday.
Just leave it and be a no show. Just accept your loss, you are unlikely to get anything back anyway.

AS usual Teletext are spouting nonsense, if you can't travel and presumably your partner wants to stay at home with you, the remaining 3 rooms can be used as can the flights. As you are cancelling you may well lose the full value of your flights, Teletext tend to be 100% cancellation charges, which should have been explained at the time of booking and if you have a Flight Plus ATOL Certificate, you need to see which company they have booked your accommodation with and check out their own terms

Teletext seem to have an automatic system for searching on line complaints so there should be an auto generated posting from them very shortly promising to look into it, but according to others, they never do

This is stating the obvious, but, as it comes up regularly, it's worth repeating that the time to get the insurance in place is at the time of booking (or take annual cover, which is usually much better value if you take more than one break per year).

I agree 100% but i do not think getting pregnant would be covered by travel insurance.

    I'm covered on my policy.

Although I'd make a bloody fortune if I did get up the duff!

It might be worth trying it for the money alone:rotfl::rotfl:
