Where do i stand? Car Repair

Options
Hi

I bought a car from a car dealer on 3/04/2017, i took the car for a free health check with Audi on 24/04/2017, and found out that the tyres were 78% worn, cambelt was due a replacement and the intercooler mount was leaking, in total the bill was £1400.

I informed the dealer of the issues, the first usual reply was that a cam belt is a service item, hence not covered by warranty but then i pointed them to a ruling which states it is the dealers responsibility.

Then they phoned again to say, that they will have their garage assess the cost and pay the difference of the cambelt, 2 hours later audi phoned to inform about the "intercooler leaking".

I wanted to know what's the best way forward in this situation?

Thanks

How many miles have you covered in the three weeks between purchase and getting the health check?

As I'm sure you know, tyres too are a service item.
Were the tyres not visible at the time of purchase?

You bought a used car which was apparently roadworthy at the time of purchase, and probably still is roadworthy. Although I must qualify that by saying that I have no idea what a "leaking intercooler mount" is.

Do we know whether the intercooler mount was leaking at the time of the sale?

1348 Miles, its the first time i bought a car, i didnt knew what to check so i relied on the dealer who said it passed their checks. I didnt knew what it was either, but after all the talks back and forth, i found out that it could only be checked when they open the stuff for cambelt replacement. However, Audi stated that it is due to the road chips, there were visible marks of chips on the front bumper and bonnet.

    Basics:
    Model of your Audi?
    Year of reg?
    How many miles?
    Purchase price?
You are aware that if you are offered a 'free' health check, then the garage is hoping to find chargeable work to be done on it?
I've never heard tyres described as '78% worn'. They are either road legal or not, and if they were legal at the time of sale then that is not a fault.
Did the vehicle come with a new MOT?

Tyres are easily checked when you view the car so you can't later complain about them being worn.
Cambelt replacement is a service item - you should have checked whether it had been done and if not when it was due and used that to negotiate. ..so no complaint there either.

Your leak ? possibly, but you need to let the dealer examine it and offer a solution.

So you don't carry out sufficient checks on a car YOU are buying and then try to blame someone else for things which aren't even issues.

    Compensation culture at its best.

    What ruling?

No name of either dealer or seller.
No details of where or when it happened.
No details of which court gave the ruling.
No details of car, price paid, age or mileage of car.

In effect, that webpage has about the same credibility as this one:

If I'd paid £15K for a 3.5 year old very high-mileage Audi, then I'd expect it to come with more than 4-5 months MOT. Which engine/trim is it?
