Is DirectLine offer to repair car genuine / bona fide?

Another person hit our car in a car park. Amazingly they left a note and accepted blame.
Just had a call from their insurer Direct Line (although person thought they were with LV at the time) offering to handle the repairs as the other party has admitted liability.
Is this genuine? Is it a sensible way to proceed? Or should we involve our insurance company?
Is LV part of Direct Line?

Yes, this is completely normal and usually the most preferable thing to do. Working directly with the third party insurer means you wont have any excess to pay up front for your repairs, although you will need to inform you own insurer for information only.
If you have any concerns then contact the other driver again to confirm who they are with or you can always pay a small fee and get the correct information from askmid.com.
At the end of the day all Directline are doing is trying to head off any attempts to use an expensive accident management or credit hire company that usually add unnecessary costs to the claim.0 -
LV are not a part of Direct Line, no.
It is common for the third party insurer to want to deal directly with you. You'll find it's easier as if you claim through your insurance, you will have to pay your excess, and wait for your insurer to recover any monies paid out, which can take time.
You will still need to advise your insurer of the accident though.0 -

No. It's part of Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society.0 -
Your only downside in accepting their offer is by doing so you lose the opportunity to use the FOS should you not be happy with the way direct line deal with you or the repair is not to your satisfaction etc.
The FOS wouldn't be interested with your dealings with DL (to get their help over a problem you need to use your own insurer)0
