HSA Dental Plan-T & C's changed!! Help!!

My DH took out the level 3 HSA dental cover on 01 november 2006. At the time the policy covered for dental treatment up to the value of £2000 and it paid 75% of these costs.

My DH now needs some bridge work done which is covered under the policy, and he has scheduled this work to start in the next month. The cost of which will be £2200 but i was happy that we could recover some of the costs under the HSA plan.

We have received a letter now from HSA, stating that they have changed the terms and conditions of the policy and they are only going to pay up to £500 for crown and bridges, but the overall treatment cost covered is £2000. So we will obly be able to claim £500 instead of the £2000 stated originally.

In the letter is states that the changes will take effect on the anniversary of the policy (01 november 2007), but when i phoned the helpline, they advised that the new T & C's will take effect from 01 october, monday.

I feel so angry that we have only just been notified of these changes and now we cannot go to any other insurer as he has already got the treatment planned.

I am annoyed  , and angry that we have paid for nearly a years cover and now it has all changed and we are not going to be covered!!!

any advice please!!! or it looks as though we will have to cancel his treatment.

i would phone again and speak to someone else, if the commence date in your letter says the 1st November, i would say that is more likely to be the correct date. whatsmore that is roughly 28 days notice so again more likely.
