After talking with our estate agents, and our solicitor and getting nowwhere, I decided to speak to the the vendors estate agent. Who agreed that his client needed the work signing off. We knew they had planning permission.
FINALLY, the vendor has agreed to contact the council to solve the problem.
Even if we pulled out of the purchase, the same issue would come up every time, so this is the best course of action.
We just need to find out if the work is OK now. Fingers crossed!0
