Shower temperature question

Hi all,
Sorry if this is a silly question.
My shower is a bar mixer which is set to a maximum 38 degrees, but has a sort of safety button can be depressed to go above this. I always have to press this button and turn to the very maximum in order to have a nice warm shower. It is not physically possible to get the shower any hotter at all. If I were to leave it on the 38 degree mark, it would definitely not be warm enough to shower in. I was wondering if this is normal, and if maybe the water is not coming out at the temperature indicated on the valve? I would test it with a thermometer but not sure if I need a special one for running water or something...
Thanks

Can't you catch some of the water in a glass and measure the temperature with a food/sugar/meat thermometer? It may drop a tiny bit in the time taken to read the temperature but it would give you a decent idea.0

Thanks for the suggestion, but annoyingly enough my only thermometer has actually broken so can't even do this at the moment! I will have to get another one and try it.
Just to add to my original post, all taps in the house including in the bathroom are burning hot and would scald. Shouldn't the shower do this if turned to the very max? (Not that anyone would want to, obviously!)
I have read about taking the ends off the bar and fiddling with a temperature setting, but I can't find a manual online for the shower and there seems to be no way of doing this without breaking the thing.
Like I said, the shower does get to a comfortable temperature but the average person should be able to (and might even want to) have it go a bit hotter. Perhaps it's normal and just me being fussy. I'd really like to know what 38 degree water feels like as this is the marker I have...
Thanks again0 -
I don't think 38 degrees would be a hot enough shower for me. I just measured water from our shower as I use it (shower comes from taps so I add a little cold water, rather than setting a temperature). The hot water comes out at 45 degrees and I cool it to about 42-43 degrees at the start of the shower (then increase the temp towards the end as I adjust to it).0

Can you turn down the pressure on the cold water supply pipe, maybe there is too much pressure on the cold and the hot is too low pressure, to mix to the chosen temperature?0

I use mine at the 38 degree setting which is fine for me.0

I think you can recalibrate the bar shower - prise off the screw cover and then remove the temperature knob- as its on a knurled thread you can then refit it in whatever position suits your actual temperature such that its hot enough for you before the safety stop.0

Sounds like the setpoint on the temp is set too low, best get searching online for a manual or do as I do and have a go anyway (what's a manual for?

Thanks for the helpful replies all. Niv, I've found the product online but no manual for it annoyingly. I can't see any way of taking anything off/apart without taking the whole thing off the wall.
I have just created a bigger first world problem for myself... borrowed a very old thermometer to have a check, dropped it on the tiles and mercury everywhere. According to the internet I need to dispose of all the clothes I was wearing and pretty much go in with full PPE to clean up... Maybe this is my sign to just stop looking for things to fiddle with...0
