Cannot work out how to get headboard onto new bed.

Bought a new bed which included a headboard, did spend time wondering where they went as nowhere on back of frame bad screws but noticed 4 plastic covers which when popped off with a knife revealed holes.
Headboard came with 4 mounts so I assume it expects to be mounted to all 4 places on bed if that makes sense.
Except firstly it it only has 4 screws for 2 holes per mount so I don't know if 2 are spare.
But the bigger problem is, theres no holes on the headboard to screw the mounts onto!! I felt just in case they were covered.
I don't think its a case of drilling as that seems too crazy to me.
I guess people want pictures but until then some generic advice will be appreciated.

Did the holes in the headboard line up with the plastic covers?0

I can't find any holes in the actual headboard itself thats the problem, I do see at certain points a lot of staples so I was thinking thats where they go but then it still means no actual holes in the board.0

I think we need a few pictures."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

You may need to feel for the hole with your finger tips - there will be one in the wood frame of the headboard - but you can't see it because the backing (that is stapled in place) covers them.
I would expect you to have large plastic 'washers' that screw into the base of the bed, with the headboard slotting on to these - then the final screw tightening when in the right place.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
Difficult without seeing it, but presuming the headboard is wood / mdf under the covering, it may be safe to assume that the mounts screw onto the headboard wherever you need them, giving flexibility to cope with different bed bases?0

Yep I have screws for the frame itself that have the plastic washers on them, and seperate small screws for the headboard
The frame has plastic things that pop off and expose the holes for the screws and washers.0 -
Well as my suspicions were, when there was a row of staples together there was 2 holes spaced out perfectly in line for the mount, but not in line with the staples, i.e the staples were not in a straight line so I just felt around the stapled area till I found holes.
So good bed tonight!0 -
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has trouble finding things that are there!
Many years ago when I bought my first bed, I rang up the shop to complain it had not come with any casters. They sent some more.
When I had finished assembling it, I found the original casters well hidden inside the packaging.0
