New Car buyer - Need HELP with Insurance!

Hi.
I just purchased a WV 1.4 2000 year Polo.
I'm a student, its my first car and basically I need help with what to do for insurance.
I have checked the article written on the site but am still confused.
Basically I want to get the cheapest price.
Would it be better to be a second driver on my mums policy?
How much does Pass Plus save?
What else could I do to bring the price down?

whos your mum insured with as if its direct line you can build your own no claims discount as a named driver
otherwise i would get the local auto trader and start ringing round some of the specialist companys for young drivers in the back of the auto trader.
do some internet searches most will come back with ridiculous prices but at least you will know where you stand........need to have a lightbulb moment0 -
My mum hasn't driven for a few years so hasn't had a policy aswell for the same time, will this be a problem?
Is it worth getting an immobilser, do they save money on the insurance?
What is the best way to get the price down, some of the quotes are ridiculous, more expensive than the car lol
I also heard read here that you can barter alot, there is no fixed price?0 -
A 2000 model year Polo should have an immobiliser as standard. The man without a signature.0

A pass plus will only help if you have passed in the last 12 months. Having an older person on there as a named driver will also help.Snootchie Bootchies!0
