Vax 12 Month Warranty

Options
I purchased a new Vax vacuum cleaner in October 2016, which stopped working in March 2017 and contacted Vax customer Care who promptly changed it for a new one. The accompanying paper work informed me that the warranty for the new machine would expire in June 2017. When I asked why my warranty had been reduced from twelve to ten months, Their answer was that there warranties are from the date of manufacture and not the date of purchase. If this is the case then some products will be out of warranty before they are purchased!

Have you checked the warranty documentation? Usually warranties will run from manufacture unless you register it with proof of purchase at which point it will be from date of purchase.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

You might want to remind them of the following information published on their website:
    WHAT IS THE GUARANTEE PERIOD

The guarantee period is what is stated on your product information at the time of purchase. We offer a 6 year extended warranty period on certain products. If this is available you will be provided with registration information when you purchase the product.

Your guarantee period commences from the date you purchased your product. If we replace your product the remaining period will transfer to your replacement product.
The last two sentences there seem to contradict what you have been told.
