Amazon query

Can someone please advise why people would sell books on amazon for a 1p. Im using it to sell for the first time and trying to sell a book that is being listed from 1p upwards. How does this work?
Can someone please let me know how amazon works.

Thank you xx
I hope that my child, looking back on today
Will remember a mother who had time to play;
Because children grow up while you're not looking,
There are years ahead for cleaning and cooking.
So, quiet now cobwebs, dust go to sleep.
I'm nursing my baby, and babies don't keep.

  • Some books are light and you can still make a profit selling at 1p (postage allowance)

    But generally it's just really irritating.
    My TV is broken! :cry:
    Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

    If you look on the 'seller connection' forum on the Amazon website there have been a few recent threads about this very thing. Because of the postage allowance as FF said, its still possible to make a profit IF the book won't cost much to post. If you do a lisitng and follow the steps it will tell you how much you will get after fees if it sells. You can then judge if its worth selling at 1p. Some sellers are mega lisiters and sell loads of 1p books so make a living that way however there is the problem of some sellers undercutting which can quickly drive a book's value down. There's loads of info on the Amazon thread on this forum - worth checking out the first two posts for info if you haven't already.

    Finally, some buyers are a bit suspicious of 1p books and I've sold copies at a higher price but it may take a while.

    Good luck

    Jay Jay, this is the link for the Amazon thread on MSE - see first 2 posts for info. If you have further questions ask away - they are a very helpful and friendly mob. I know the Amazon seller connection boards can be a bit daunting..........................
