Dying Micra
Options
In Nov 2014 I bought a Micra with auto gearbox from Westway Nissan in Oxford. It was 18 months old and had done 14k miles. It has now done 27k miles and apparently needs a new gearbox.
Nissan have agreed to the supply of a new gearbox but will not pay the ca. £500 installation charge! I have spent 4 weeks arguing with Nissan Customer Services but they won’t budge on this. I now find out that Nissan have apparently issued Recall Notices for this problem – but I’ve never received them. Presumably they knew there was a problem when they sold it to me.
I’ve been going round the houses with customer services for a month. Their case manager was supposed to get back to me within 48 hours – didn’t happen. I’ve rung them every day and been through the whole gamut of ; case officer is away from her desk, case officer is off sick, case has been reassigned but the case officer is not available. It’s a joke. I was finally promised a written note of the rationale for refusal on Friday. It hasn’t arrived yet.
I think their response is totally unacceptable.
What do you suggest I do to get a satisfactory resolution of this? Any help gratefully appreciated.

There have been no autobox recalls against Micras since 2012, according to DVSA.

That doesn't mean that Nissan haven't issued an internal service bulletin or similar technical document, but they haven't involved the government agencies in any official recall.
You have a five year old car, which would have originally had a three year warranty, so you are now two years out of warranty. You're doing well to get such a large goodwill gesture from Nissan.0 -
Thanks AdrianC. The Recall Notices were advised to me by the Nissan Service Manager. I did search for thembut, like you, I assume they are internal documents. Are they published anywhere?
In fact the car was exactly 4 years old when I took it back to Nissan in March. It should surely not need a new gear-box yet, especially as its auto and only done 27k miles? This is my 4th Micra and the others had done twice that when I sold them without any problems.0
