Can hive be removed easily from a home and retired to a regular thermostat.
We have just moved into a property that has it and we want rid! I can't find anything online that tells me!0 -
Yes, if you don't want it, it should be easy enough to remove. It will work without the hub as standard heating system anyway, but it's fiddly to program that way. I think you would also be able to resell it to someone who does want it. It is only the hub itself that is personal and cannot be transferred to another account (I wish I had known that when I upgraded to a better hub - apparently they told me 4 or 5 years ago, but I have no memory of that) .
So you have three options: the one they recommend which is to buy your own hub and keep using the Hive system or use the remains of the system without a hub as standalone or to replace it with old-fashioned controls.0 -
Of course you can take it with you! Who ever told you you couldn’t is talking out their backside!
I’ve moved house twice and simply uninstalled it and reinstalled in my new house!
When I originally got nice I kept the old thermostat and controller and just reinstalled that. There’s always a work around0 -
OK, so unfortunately I didn't do my research and impulse bought a used Hive wireless thermostat, receiver and hub off eBay over the weekend.
From what I'm reading here it looks like I'm going to need to purchase a new, unregistered hub before I can get the whole lot working?
I'd appreciate some guidance as I obviously don't want to purchase another hub and wire the receiver in just to find out I've got no way of programming the water/heating.

Is there any way of checking if a hub has been previously registered or not?0
