Minor accident
Hi,
My wife was involved in a minor accident bumping into the back of a scooter at low speed at a roundabout.
There is minor damage to the bumper of my wife's car and some damage to the scooter (the owner is going to get a quote for the damage).
The question is do we claim on my wife's insurance(depending on the cost of the scooter)?
It's probably not necessary to repair the bumper, but would obviously be done if we claimed.
My wife's excess is only £80 and she's got 2 years of no claims discount. She is likely to be getting a new company car within the year in which case her insurance will be included.
However she is also a named driver on my car as well. It's got protected no claims. However could this accident affect my insurance premiums?
I'm not sure how to proceed as the damage is probably fairly minor.

If the rider of the scooter decides he wants to claim on your insurance, which he may well do if he is in his right mind, then you won't get a choice.0

I think he's suggested doing it outside of the insurance. It could be that he's not insured I suppose.0

A claim on your wife's insurance will put your premium up if she is a named driver on your policy.0

What looks like 'minor' damage on motorbikes and scooters can easily hit four figures!0
