I have moved this thread from Over 50s Money Saving to Savings & Investments where I think it may receive more help.

If you want a risk-free place for a long term deposit with no access for several years then Shawbrook has just launched a 7-year fixed rate account paying 2.20% AER covered by FSCS up to £85,000.

[STRIKE]How large[/STRIKE]* and have you made use of the Current Accounts & Regular Savers that pay 3-5%?

Have you considered, or would you consider S&S investments or do you want / need to keep it is as cash?

Quickly accessible or locked away for a few years with penalties for early access?

EDIT - Just seen £50k in title so that answers that one.
