How about nationwide, make sure you apply for basic account unless your credit file is still ok. And do visit and read the dmp mutual support thread we are all in the same boat over there!

This is true, Nationwide are great I find. :-) Their basic flex account is standard but ideal. Also, recommend a friend, could be other half, and you'll get £100 free. :-) Good luck getting debt free :-)0 -
Thanks for the replies.
Do you know if Nationwide are owned/co-owned by anyone else? This is the problem we have got at the moment, trying to find somewhere that has no financial link to our credit cards.Don't put menthol vape juice in your eyes!!!0 -
Nationwide is the parent company and they only own other building societies not banks.
In general building societies are better in this instance because they are not usually linked to banks. A lot of them are shareholder or member owned so they have solid parent companies, rather than being owned by someone who's owned by someone else, with a big bank sat at the top. (note I say a lot - not all, worth checking for each). As long as you don't have a product with BS that is.
This link may be useful to you for future though
its not an exhaustive list but has many

Don't panic if you see something in Nationwide's history relating to Coop - its not the same coop as your other bank. Back in the 70s there was a different building society with 'co-operative' in the title which then became Nationwide Building Society.
Totally different company to the Co-operative bank which you have your cards/accounts with

Hi Vaper,
Dont think TSB or Nationwide are linked to any of the banks you have debts with.
However, I didn't realise MBNA were owned by Lloyds. We had debts with them (now sold to PRA) and we bank with Halifax and BoS which I believe are part of Lloyds.

I didn't realise it either until someone mentioned it to me then I found something on the web which it seems they were taken over/merged last year, unless I've read it wrong (wouldn't be the first time).
Just to be on the safe side I have now applied for a Nationwide account too and been accepted.
I looked at TSB as well but couldn't find any information about who they are linked to. It's not easy trying to find this information is it.
Think I might just apply anyway :-)Don't put menthol vape juice in your eyes!!!0
