How do i find an old car loan details

I have tried all the usual experian and equifax. I know I took a loan out for a car in 2000-2003 for a lot of money; As I was young at the time the sale man said I had to have PPI on it; for the life in me I cant find the details of the loan out.
Was a car loan for about £20 to £25K at the time. Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Simon

If it's not in your paperwork or your memory, then you won't find it, short of writing to every lender it could have been.0

Was this through a car dealer? Car dealers did not become regulated until Jan 2005. So, yours is pre-regulation unless the dealer was an agent of the lender (typically that is some own-brand finance - ie.. lender name matches car brand). If it was a second hand car dealer then this would not apply.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
thanks It was a private dealer; it was old school where the finance man travelled out to the dealer appointment and we met there and i signed his paper work and that was it. Bugging the life out of me as experian and equifax keep details but only show you for so long. The really aged stuff disappears. tried clydesdale and hitachi. fingers crossed. car was second hand.0

Tried looking for old paper bank statements? Do you still have the bank account, you could request old statements via them if possible? You might have to pay though.0

Your problem is that even if you knew the loan company they may have long since got rid of the information relating to your loan, especially if they have been bought out once or twice by other companies as often happened to this type of companies.
May be worth the price of a few stamps to double check, but don't hold out much hope tbh.
Good Luck

I'd say this is probably not worth pursuing any further...0
