P trap not fitting

hi all
i changed the waste on bathroom sink, the old trap was a lot shorter but the new one is big, so when i am putting the new p trap it stays below the old pipe where the waste water should be going, can you please tell me what i can do.
I already tried getting an adjustable p trap and that just makes the distance between end of p trap and pipe that takes the waste even more.
I got a bottle trap and that would not work either.

Any suggestions

Get the right length waste, cut the existing waste to the correct length or drop the waste pipe down outside. If you go with the middle option you will need to cut it and file it so that it is extremely level and easily resealed.
The only other option is to raise the WHB, you could bodge a connection using a few fittings but as the outlet pipe is higher you could end up with a sink with some water sitting in it. The best option is just to fit the same length waste as was originally there, unless of course it had been cut which is why it's shorter, most slotted basin wastes are the same length, it's only if you go for fancier combined tap/waste fittings you usually end up with issues.Norn Iron Club member No 3530 -
Thanks for the reply
I think the old waste was cut to get to the pipe that takes the waste out of the house, is there like a flexible pipe that i could put, just a straight pipe but i can mould it in shape of p trap if it is flexible enough.
May be something like this ?

or if i could get the L extension on the side of the p trap that is connecting to the main grey pipe, as i can extend the other side but not the L shape taking water out?0 -
If you leave everything as is and try to connect using fittings you could end up with water staying in the basin, this will depend on just how high the difference between where the pipe is now and where it should be, if it's only 1 or 2 inches at most then i would say try it but be aware it will be slower to drain and more prone to clog up with hair/soap, it also won't be to pleasing to the eye if its visible. If you are prepared to cut the pipe coming thru the wall you might have room to get two 1" 1/4 m/f 45 bends between the pipe and trap.Norn Iron Club member No 3530

That grey pipe is quite flexible I have pulled it to the max so i can get better grip, it can be pushed back slightly.
can I not get that L shape bend of the p trap but just slightly longer? Just went to wickes and they said i could try using a shallow trap but they did not have a 32mm fitting for that.0 -
Just make your own up with three 90 degree fittings

I think you'll find the Screwfix one has a female rather than a male - I've use something like this, though you may have to search if this isn't the right size

You won't get a trap to fit that. The basin is set too low and the waste pipe too highHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0
