New kitchen floor lay before or after new units

My house had a severe water leak and subsequently have to have a new kitchen but not floor. The floor is quite old and I should maybe get a new one as kitchen is being done. Existing floor reaches to edge of units not underneath and those bits of exposed floor need sealing as there is a slight asbestos problem. So if I replace the floor is it better to cover whole floor or just up to edge of units. Also is it better to fit floor first or after kitchen if its up to the edge. Bearing in mind there will be workmen inn the house for weeks dont want it fitted then damaged
Sorry for funny question but lot of damage to house and lots of decisions to be made

what sort of flooring are you planning to put down0

You could have it put down afterwards, we had laminate flooring put down in ours and it was fitted upto the feet of the kitchen units and then a plinth
from the cupboard base to the floor hides it all.0 -
We fitted a kitchen and then tiled the floor, looks good but had to make lots of cuts to the tiles, with hindsight would tile the whole foor next time and then fit kitchen,if you change the kitchen later you would not have to change tiles.0

Something like Amtico vinyl flooring. Our existing floor is Amtico and has been down over 30 years0 -

We are in our sixties so dont expect to replace it in our lifetime0 -
Amtico
get the price for laying the full floor then to just under the cabinets, could be quite saving.
if you get it laid first there are cost effective covers to protect it.0 -
With Amtico I would get it up to the unit feet, and then have the plinths fitted afterwards.
If it was a ceramic tile floor, I would get it fitted to the whole floor if possible. I had this in my last house, and it worked well. In my current house I'll be getting vinyl so will have it fitted after the units, under the plinth.0
