New dishwasher bought from Currys failed to turn up on the designated day, I phoned them to ask why having spent all day waiting in. After the usual on hold for what seemed ever I am told that my address details were not completed correctly! their mistake I argue they had my house number my postcode, but because my name they say was just my initials and the phone number they had was incorrect the driver could not complete the delivery even though the truck was loaded with our order.
The result I canceled the order got a refund and went to John Lewis. Curry's you employ Muppets and have lost another sales.

Why did you go to Currys?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Did you order online or in store? When we have ordered in store (for work, you wouldn't catch me shopping in Currys) we have received a print out with address, telephone number etc on it.0

And you got a 2 year warranty, rather than DSG trying hard to flog you their ludicrously expensive extended warranty. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Why did you go to Currys?
I reluctantly used Currys in December last year and was very impressed with their service. I ordered a chest freezer, the two blokes turned up in one of the worst days of the year and carted it through a barn, into a farmyard, down an alley past sheep and into my back barn.
As I live in a very remote and rural area they had to phone me twice to find the house (no street names and postcodes shared with about 50 other properties).
I know their reputation, however on the day of order they were the cheapest and allowed a choice of delivery days - which ever Tuesday I wanted. Speaking from my own experience they were fine. Never been pushed to purchases their warranty, well I may have been offered it online but didn't accept and really can't recall it.
I can't understand why they couldn't deliver to the OP, sounds like an excuse to me and I'd be hard pushed to believe it.
PS - I love John Lewis, however they don't actually deliver their large goods here, they subcontract to local businesses who aren't as helpful as JL staff. We ordered a large piece of bedroom furniture which JL would have provided two staff, taken it upstairs, unpacked and placed it in position. The local blokes weren't prepared to do that, each van is normally a one man operation. I rang JL to say that if it wasn't 'installed' then I'd refuse delivery - they phoned the delivery manager to make sure everything was right. Furniture turns up, two men who wrestle it upstairs, won't unpack or place but that was easy. Years later I mention this to the delivery driver who told me that the other bloke was a hitch-hiking tourist he'd picked up and offered him a lift in return for help!0 -
Years ago I ordered a washing machine from Currys for my elderly mum who lived by herself. I paid extra for the installation too. When I next visited the wallies hadn't installed it because the excuse was the outlet wasn't fit for purpose. I installed it myself using the outlet and it worked fine for the next 12 years. You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

There must be some words missing or incorrectly used there ... I cannot decipher the part after the comma. :eek:0 -

My mum bought a tumble dryer from Curry's yesterday. We don't have a John Lewis or other shop where my mum could see the dryers, and she doesn't want internet shopping. I gave my number as the contact number, as my mum doesn't like speaking to strangers on the phone (she's in her 80s). Delivery was offered for today, no charge, although next day delivery was advertised as costing a small amount.
I meant to track the order online last night to see if it was likely to be a morning or afternoon delivery, but I forgot - shattered after Guides! 7.02am today, I received a text saying that delivery would be before 10.55am. Two minutes later, I received a phone call saying that the delivery was on it's way and would be there in 20-30 minutes.
Mum received her dryer by 7.30am, found the drivers to be polite and friendly, and is very happy with the price and the service received.0 -
Why did you go to Currys?
I keep falling for it. Every few years (after I've forgotten the previous foul up by Currys), I'll decide to buy something from them again, thinking they can't possibly foul it up again. But, every single time, they do. I don't think I've ever bought anything from them (or PC World or the old Dixons - all same group) that hasn't ended up with stress and hassle. I never learn!
We desperately need a competitor to step up and open a chain of stores to compete with them. They have a dominant position (there's no other like them), so are free to offer a shoddy service.
I feel exactly the same about Halfords. They completely dominate the pedal cycle market, but I've yet to buy a bike from them that they've managed to build properly.
Both their business models seem to be simply to keep out the competition. If they had similar sized businesses competing against them, they'd both be history.0
