Hi, can anyone tell me if this quote sounds fair? Its from a roofer that I have been recommended from a friend. I haven't been able to get any other recommendations so if I get other quotes it would be from companies I don't know, which I'm not keen on. Plus I have tried to get other roofers around to quote but some just haven't turned up. So really, I just want to know that I'm not being taken for a ride before I appoint this guy.
I have a mid-terrace 3 bed house with damp patches inside.... Gutters are definitely leaking and he recommends replacing them with uPVC (he says they can be fixed but replacement would be better). He also says I need to re-point chimney stack and flaunch in top of stack, replace lead flashing and repair joint. Total cost £850.
The repairs recommended seem to be in line with the survey when I bought the house. I'm in the north west of England.
Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

A scaffold tower erected by a scaffolding company could be £500-600, then there is the labour for repointing and so on. Hence your quote sounds fine, provided they are not not crawling and working off your roof - think cowboys and roof damage here.0

Thanks for this. I'm not sure it does include scaffolding (I've given total price but he broke it down into jobs and scaffolding wasn't mentioned). So from what you say, it seems a bit high maybe.0 -

You need to establish what access is being proposed. Only then can you judge what the value of the work is. Nobody on the forum can say without knowing this, but equally none of us has seen the job, nor the extent of the works and the access.0
