Try
www.skyscanner.co.uk or www.travelsupermarket.com for flights and http://rome.hotels-europe.ws/ or http://www.hotelscomparison.com/ for accom."Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."0 -
Hi I too am off to Rome in December, booked flights with Ryanair at £12 inc taxes through uk hot deals notification, haven't booked hotel yet so I will monitor your thread closely. Have a good time.0

For the flights, use skyscanner, or MSE's flightchecker.... you can generally get cheap flights from Luton and Stansted I think, but it depends where you are really.
For hotels, I'd recommend doing a search on venere.com - really helpful website with lots of good maps/reviews, and reasonable prices too (which you also don't have to pay in advance)
PM me if you want a 4% discount code.
I think it's a good idea to check out this website even if you find hotels cheaper elsewhere, as the descriptions and maps are generally better than other sites in my opinion.
Hope that helps
PS - I'm not connected to this website in any way, and I don't gain anything from this post. I also found the discount code on another forum.0 -
Don't dismiss hostels - look on hostelworld.com. Plenty around Termini station, handy for the Terravision bus from the airport and the buses. And some nice trattorias too.0

Thanks for your advice might take you up on that discount as been looking on here and someone else recommended venere.com. Am looking for somewhere relatively nice but on a budget my b/friends wants luxury so hostels out of question but I am happy with cheap and cheerful as long as its not too dire. Also we live in Leeds so wondered if anyone could recomment cheap flights from manchester or Leeds or somewhere up north, have looked on jet2.com they seem best so far but welcome any other ideas thanks xx0
