Just trying to figure out if they do or not but not finding out too much in the terms and conditions or one websites.
I know life insurance policies don't but if you have a funeral plan in place and meet the minimum term for them to payout beforehand would they payout?

I think they pay out for a funeral, so long as you are dead.
Why would cause of death alter anything?I am not a cat (But my friend is)0 -
It would not be an easy question to ask of a funeral plan provider unless tragically you are the next of kin.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

Funeral plans are not insurance policies, you pay in advance for the funeral.I am not a cat (But my friend is)0

I agree that if the plan has been paid for, the funeral should go ahead, but some funeral directors have been known to be less than scrupulous and may have a pertinent clause in their terms and conditions. Perhaps the OP is thinking this could be the case.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

That's what I was thinking lincroft.
I realise it isn't an insurance policy so should really pay out if the payments have been made but it does seem to be a murky area. I will try and call some providers.0 -
My mum had one with a local funeral director (I don't know what company backed the policy) and they don't even ask about the cause of death. They just wanted to know when/where to pick up the body and when we wanted the funeral.0

Why would you want to no?0

Doesn't seem like a murky area to me. If any of them do have a "don't pay out on suicide" clause, then it would probably be unenforceable under the Unfair Contract Terms Act. There's no way you can take thousands of pounds off someone and then refuse to provide the agreed service because it said in the small print you wouldn't pay out for suicide. Insurance is completely different.
The OP is mistaken about life insurance policies. Many of them pay out on suicide as long as you have held the plan for more than a year. The risk that someone takes out life insurance with the intention of putting up with their misery for a year and then offing themselves is reflected in the premium - and the risk is negligible because people who are able to take a long-term rational view in that way don't commit suicide.0
