Parrot-mania: win a once-in-a-lifetime World Parrot Trust volunteering trip to Costa Rica

This trip is worth £1,500 and you'll get to spend four amazing weeks caring for and learning about these incredible creatures in their natural habitat as our Parrot Ambassador. You'll be working with The Ara Project, an organisation dedicated to saving Costa Rica's two native macaws and working to protect their habitat and promote conservation efforts in the region.
This prize includes flights to Costa Rica, accommodation and meals for 4 weeks plus an experience package from SUBCULTOURS - wow! During your stay you'll be updating us on your adventure and we'll be publishing some of your photos and stories on our blog and social media channels.

How to enter
All you need to do is upload a video to YouTube telling us why you should be our Parrot Ambassador. Be as creative as you can to make your application stand out from the rest. Make sure it's under 3 minutes long then click below to send us the link. The deadline is 8th May so get filming pirates!

Here’s what you can win:

• Return flights and transfers to the project in Punta Islita, Costa Rica
• Board and accommodation at the site (just 1km from the beach)
• One experience package provided by SUBCULTOURS
• Total duration: 4 weeks (in August, 2017)

And here’s what you’ll be doing:

• Active participation in the Ara Project. You can find an overview of the project here.
• You won’t only be feeding the parrots, but also our blog! You will write updates and take cool photos for social media - so that everyone else can keep up with you and participate in your adventure!
• You will have new experiences, meet cool people and enjoy the Pura Vida!

Requirements:

• You are hungry for an adventure in Costa Rica and have time to do it in August, 2017
• You love nature and dream of being surrounded by animals
• You want to make the world a better place
• You are ready to spend 4 weeks in a tropical rainforest with other volunteers
• You have a flair for writing and you’re not afraid of being in front of the camera

The video competition begins on 18/04/2017. From this date, videos may be submitted via the video competition app which is embedded in the holidaypirates.com website, however, these will not be published. The submission phase ends on 8/05/2017.
There then follows one week during which the jury, consisting of HolidayPirates and the World Parrot Trust, will decide on a TOP 20 from all the submissions. These will be published by holidaypirates.com on 16 May 2017. After this, the public has until 31 May to vote for the TOP 3. It will no longer be possible to send in videos during this phase. Once voting has ended, the winner will be determined from the TOP 3 at the jury’s discretion and an announcement made. For this purpose the jury will hold Skype or telephone conversations with the TOP 3 and they reserve the right to choose a suitable winner using their own discretion and judgement. If a TOP 3 candidate cannot participate in this Skype or telephone conversation between 1 June and 6 June, this candidate will be eliminated from the competition.
