Tea flask

I have two flasks, one very ancient Thermos which is losing its capacity to keep drinks hot and a fairly new one which has never been really good, loses heat quite quickly and gives a very flasky taste to tea.

I used mine quite often and it is an automatic thing to pack along with sandwiches etc.for a day out hiking or exploring or long distance travel.

Wonder if anyone can suggest a nice flask (I'm not trying to cut corners on price if it provides a good cuppa! as I think it really pays for itself over and over) that keeps beverages hot and doesn't give that flasky taste (goodness knows how that comes about? inner plastic?).

Appreciate any suggestions.

I'll be interested in any replies. Years ago when flasks had that glass inner they were fragile but they were efficient.
Ive had a number of stainless steel flasks and it doesn't seem to matter whether I buy them from Tkmaxx or John Lewis they don't seem to keep drinks hot.

I have got a stainless steel one and get on fine with that. When I used to take a flask to work. The coffee was still fine at 3.30 pm tea break.

I have a 500ml stainless steel flask from Tesco which keeps coffee drinkably hot for about 8-9 hours. It cleans up nicely too with bicarbonate of soda and warm water. I put in some boiling water to heat it up for a few minutes before I fill it with coffee using the water that has gone off the boil.

Lakeland do a stainless steel insulated cup....designed for travelling ...recommended by scouts who pop them into their rucksacks, so presumably would suit the OP's brief for hiking?

Not the cheapest model, but they seem to have good reviews - and Lakeland have a really decent no quibble return policy.

thermos light and compact or thermos extreme are both very good flasks expensive but give good performance
  • I've got a small stainless steel one from Morries, which cost about three quid. It has a flip up lid and a lip so you drink straight from it. It never leaks and keeps my tea warm for hours.

We bought a flask for hiking, it's a Tatonka flask, the best I've ever had and very durable. Keeps drinks piping hot.

We've had a stainless steel Stanley flask for years, and it still works a treat at keeping tea hot.

I bought a flask from Mountain Warehouse a couple of years ago and found it brilliant I did buy it at the end of the summer so it was half price at 7.99 but it is very good and keeps coffee hot for hours
