There will be a few varying tastes to chippy/chinese basic curry sauces. I used to just make up a stock cube and add some flour to thicken it and curry powder.
These days I use the curry granules, I've got Bisto and Asda. I also have some Mayflower powder that I think came from Home Bargains this time.
While you do really need to try a few for yourself and tweak the thickness etc to how you like it .... they are cheap to buy at least, typically being under £1 for a baked-bean-sized tub that'll probably last a year.... unless you hit it for half a pint weekly!0 -
Hi,
I use the Mayflower as well, prefer the 'hot' to the 'mild', only £1 for a tray in FarmFoods.
Even put a couple of tablespoonfuls into my lentil soups.0 -

I've seen this curry sauce in Poundstrecher. Can't remember the exact price but I believe it's less than a £1.
Edit. Was in Poundstrecher today . Price is actually £1.69.The more I live, the more I learn.

OH uses the Goldfish brand curry sauce on his chips and says it's just like the take away version.

I get Goldfish brand from the Chinese supermarket and make it 50/50 mild and hot as the hot one is too hot and the mild is too mild. It lasts for months or years without going off.0
