V5/car same name but driving license different name

Hi everyone,
I am new here and need some advice. Yesterday I went with another insurance company as I was getting ridiculous quotes from most places (the details are the same).
However ,I decided to try and input my Chinese name (example: Chen Li James) which my V5/Car insurance and most of the assets is under my English name( James Chen) which even my signature from the driving license is shown. The results were I was getting £300 cheaper with my Chinese than the new policy.
Now my new policy starts within a month and I was thinking if it was okay to use my current insurance for NCD as it is in my english name instead of the driving license name.
I was thinking of cancelling my new policy which has not started and would like to know if there is admin fee (M&S) car insurance

Check the policy wording on what happens when you cancel prior to the policy starting to find the answer (or ask M&S directly) (Some companies always charge an admin fee, others may not - there is no standard rule)I was thinking of cancelling my new policy which has not started and would like to know if there is admin fee (M&S) car insurance0 -

Thanks, I will ask them. my main question is if I could use my chinese name since it is cheaper but my current insurance policy is under my english name which I don't know if I can use ior it void the insurance due to name change (my concern).0 -
Guessing there could be issues.
If your policy is not the same names as your licence it may cause a few questions, same with the V5C not being in the same name. They may ask the question is it really the same person. Or is the vehicle registered to someone else when you declared yourself the owner and registered keeper.
Best to ask the insurer before you make changes. Each one will probably have their own terms.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Thanks, On my driving license under the signature I signed with my english name which can be seen clearly. The name on my passport/driving license is just pronouncing to say it in english name. 99% of the stuffs is I use my english name0 -
to avoid issues, you need to put your passport name in applying for most things, you can't just choose to put another one out of preference.
Otherwise it will lead to circumstances like this and may impact on you when you apply for loans, mortgages as your credit file may not match up and lead to potential issues"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I don't understand how your name has any bearing on the premiums you've been quoted?! Postcode (crime stats), vehicle (insurance group), NCB (consistency) and modifications (risk) etc I understand... But your name??0
