Hi all
I pranged a car park barrier yesterday there was no massive damage to my car. The attending came out, asked if I was ok and examined the front of my car saying just a few scratches dear etc. I explained I was a new driver and the attendant said it seems like you panicked and are you ok? I continued up into the car park and that was that. I was away for two hours. On my return the carpark attendance approached me and said you've damaged our barrier which was still working normally but then said as you can see it's skiwhiff now in situ. It had moved slightly by about half an inch. He demanded my details and said he was going to claim on my insurance and I will most likely be fined. So I took a load of photos anyway. My daughter said contact your insurance company and report it anyway before they report it so I did. What can I expect? My car is an NHS lease car. I've had my licence for 1 1/2 years but only had the car 6 months:eek:. Yes I know I can look at my terms and conditions. My daughter then said your insurance company may or may not do anything about it. As a new driver completely new to these kind of situations can someone give me the bottom line....thanks in advance

You won't be fined, that's bs. Just contact your insurance company and send them the photos if required, this is what insurance is for.
If there is any damage to your car they will repair it and if there is damage to the barrier they will cover that.
All that will happen is when your renewal is due it will probably increase- a fair bit.0 -
Thank you Jim for your timely response. I've got the car for 3 years. Yes on reading more internet stuff I realised that about the insurance. Must be more vigilant next time.0
