SKY Mobile Presale credit check

Tried to get a sky mobile phone deal today but failed my equifax credit check. Funny thing is that my credit score sits at 480 and that is considered excellent. Experian credit check is 930..........my addresses and bank account all check out, no failed DD's in short I am pristine when it comes to credit checks.........

Anybody got any ideas as to what went wrong? The sky rep said that my credit score does not count when doing a credit check, so what is the point of having a credit rating. If it were to be poor then I could understand a check failing but excellent rating.......leaves me more than perplexed

The credit score is just there to keep you interested. It has no meaning and is not seen or used by anyone. It has no point.

It's a good money maker for the CRAs though.

Find another network to to get a sim from, try getting a sim only deal, could be easier to get.

Thanks for all your reply but I already have a mobile phone with EE and was trying to change from 02 to sky for my son. Equifax have found no reason for me to fail a credit check, likewise Experian. I have never defaulted and have an excellent record plus I have not maxed out my credit level. My addresses on both reports are the same. Sky say this is a presale check what ever that is but it looks as if even if you are credit worthy with no defaults that is not good enough for sky mobile

That's lovely, but as they know nothing about Sky's criteria, entirely irrelevant.

I got to the bottom of the problem! The address database is different from the one used by Experian and my addresses had to be corrected to what they have but their database is inaccurate. One address is seen as one house when in fact it has a total of 4 individually numbered flats. Hence the discrepancies. You know the old saying "Try, Try and Try again"

So, nothing to do with your fictitious credit score then it seems?
  • Hi There,

I was just wondering how you got Equifax to change the address they have down for you?
I also live in a block of flats and just like you my credit score is very high and there are no other reasons as to why sky should refuse me a contract.

They currently have the correct flat number etc, but im wondering if like you its not registereing that there are 9 flats in the building?

    thanks!

So you didn't read any of the responses to the OP, if you did you'll have noticed your credit score means absolutely nothing.

As you've dragged up a thread that's nearly a year old I doubt the OP will get back to you anyway.
