Martin says it is easy to switch bank accounts. Mmmm, is it? HSBC told me on March 24: “Your application has been accepted”. Since then I have returned the joint account mandate, set up user name and password, a telephone security number and told them my daughter’s middle name, my favourite team, my favourite city and favourite flower. I have been given an account number and sort code, have received several brochures (one is 56 pages) and several other letters. But my account has still not been switched. I have phoned HSBC four times and been told the switching team is very, very busy but they will call me within 48 hours. But the phone never rings. I am in limbo.
